I'm assuming the front sight would be the mp5 SD version? (http://www.hkparts.net/shop/pc/Front-Sight-Tower-For-MP5-SD-US-87p15699.htm) - Since it doesn't have the "triple tower" that wouldn't fit the lusa?

As for the rear sight, it has a little "slot" on the bottom where it fits on the mp5 - I imagine it shouldn't be an issue to just tig weld the sides?

Im neither a welder, machinist or gunsmith so Im not sure what kind of work will be involved in the end, or 100% if it would fit just throwing it out there...

With the MP5 stock my cheek rides too high so it was hard to line up my eye with the iron sight, would the MP5 sight be any better? Hence the picatinny rail with a red dot.

I've been eyeing this thread for a while. A NR version looks silly as all hell, but there's the possibility to make it look a little less silly.

What about fitting a 'handguard' to the barrel nut, about 6 inches long, and then tapering down to barrel shroud that fits beneath the handguard to give it a SD look? I wonder if the barrel nut gets hot enough that it'd burn you, or cause a plastic handguard to melt.
 
Alright - Found something that could be useful! I was browsing the HKParts site - I may have found a way to get the mp5 rear sight to fit!

I came across this. It is the mounting base for the rear sight - it has a curve to fit the top of the mp5 and may fit the curve of the Lusa.

Have that TIG welded on after the old rear sight is removed, then you could freely put the mp5 rear sight assembly into it. (rear sight)

Man oh man is this interesting. For the front I think someone could fabricate up a barrel nut that work much like and AR15 barrel nut to allow an extension to be fitted to the gun that allows for the MP5 front sight and hand guard to mount to the lusa. The longer barrel would be good for that too, whether made as a 18.5 inch barrel, or a longer one just to clear the front sight with dimensions similar to the mp5.

This barrel has to go back, or I may send it to a customer to test on their gun as its not functioning properly with our only test LUSA left in the shop. So at this point I dont know if its the barrel or the gun. No original barrel..
