Just curious because the Kurgan is on the hunt for 30 carbine Ruger number one.

What is the largest caliber you have put on the cadet actions? 357 Maximum a possibility?

I have seen a rather ugly 45/70 built on a greener shotgun.

On a small frame martini the largest case which I have seen used was a 225 Winchester. The shape of the case and length of the case becomes an issue as it has to slide down the loading ramp and then into the chamber. I like the Herret type case built on the 30-30 shortened cases. Lots of power and feeding is not an issue.

The Martini actions are very strong (I read 50k somewhere!). But the .30 Carbine is rimless and requires a special extractor. Other than Snapp's Gunshop in the US, I don't know who makes one.

I really don't need 30 Carbine (though it would be nice), as I load modified 32-20 cases to greater velocity levels, with no ill effects on my Martini Cadet.

225 Winchester is a fine round...

There is a ball and williams Ballard rifle in the EE that would be a good project .It is a bit rough (150years old) but it seems to be mostly all there.It is in 44 cal .I already have one like this,here is link

Here's a bit of interesting reading from the British Militaria Forum on pressure levels etc. for the Martini action. (The 577/590 Super-Snider that "CoyoteAndMommote" was working on is interesting... Not on a Cadet action, though!)

My chum built a .223 on a Cadet action when he worked for a local gunsmith. The purchaser didn't like it and my chum bought it back from him. He had built an extractor to handle the rimless round.

I just came across an interesting project in a post on the Martini section of Rimfire Central.

Perusing the net searching for solutions for a subject that I will bring up later, I stumbled across this ambitious project by a skilled craftsman. It is titled "Martin a la Hoffman" and is a project of making a switch barrel Martini from a small frame and having several differing full barreled forends on hand for the fun.
