Dogs in need of a home ....updated march16/2016

while out on the bush trails today, I got to thinking, if buddy on death row can not find a home locally, who will offer up a donation to ship buddy to anywhere that a suitable home can be found? I certainly will! How about you? Any other donors? Lets get a fund raiser going, please! Hate to see this awesome pal put down for no good reason! Call in your pledge before it's too late! PLEASE! Someone that can love this guy and give a good home to, we'll help get him to you!

he is safe now , and in a private kennel and will be working with a behavouralist so he can be homed with other dogs and help him curb his prey drive . from there he needs at the least a foster home .
on the Canadian side of the border dogwood rescue society is involved and actively looking for a home .

on the American side of the border it is seatle purebred dog rescue that is putting him up in a kennel and getting him rehabbed .

so here is something a bit lighter .....

a few months ago dogwood rescue society won a contest from Phillips brewery .

the result is they would do a run of beer with special labeling , and donate the proceeds of the sale to the rescue .

here is a picture of Gus and Alfie from ifitwags ( both dogwood rescues ) and the bottle of beer ;

unfortunately it appears to only be available in BC for now .....

and for anyone interested , here is more of Gus and Alfie

great news, thanks for posting!

Did not want this thread to disappear. Given the hunting dog types on this forum it should be a good fit finding homes for these dogs.

cool , this seems to be working .

when a dog is adopted they remove the pics , and the pics disappear from here .

so if anyone is interested in trigger "wally " , I have read posts from a person involved in his training , and it seems his "dog aggression " has been greatly exaggerated .
he is basically a gsp with a very strong hunting drive that was being ignored and crated when he should have had at the very least a yard to run in................

I a side note I'd love to stuff some humans in a crate for 18 hours a day for a couple weeks and see how sane and "nonaggressive" they are .

also there is a really nice weimaraner in Prince George , when I find the ad again i'll post it .

Some fine dogs in the thread. Not in a position, ....living in the city...., to take a outdoors dog right now. Hoping those both change. I would like to see this be stickied in the hunting forum, become a hunting dog adoption exchange thread. I would definitely be interested in a few of these dogs....just not now.

Great thread.
it would be great to see it stay within the hunting breeds.

I'd be okay with it being more than hunting breeds. My wife and I have a weakness for rottweillers and I've spent the past 20 years with the breed. 3 were rescues and took some work but the rewards and memories can't be replaced. We have 2 right now, both 6 years old. The male we bought but the female we rescued 4 years ago now. I'll be watching this thread with interest.

are you looking for another one ?

Roscoe is a 7 year old Doberman Pinscher. He is always happy for a ball toss, walk or laying by the fire. Roscoe has learned to walk best with a halti, he gets excited by the site of other dogs, bicycles and wildlife. Roscoe has been working hard to improve this by turning away from the issues but is still a work in progress. He is fostered with another dog and is good in the house. He knows basic commands and is a quick study at learning new ones. Roscoe would do well with a person who has ample time to spend with him as he is a bit of a "velcro" dog.

meet Ella a Seven year old Weimaraner.
she has a high prey drive and loves to chase most cats and anything small and furry , including small dogs .

from the rescue ;
"The original owner was a breeder that had her for 5 years showing her.
The family that brought her into us purchased her from that breeder.
They had her for two years.
They felt that her prey drive was getting too high. She had taken off on their daughter during walks to go after small dogs or cats. They lived in town and spent her time in a crate if they were gone to work or not home.

She gets along fine with all the dogs here at the rescue, including our small dogs.

Strange small dogs she will try to go after. She does try to hunt down the barn cats too, She sticks close to the house when we let her out to pee or for exercise.

She's never gone down to the barn on her own.

She has been excellent with the kids, good with the rest of our livestock (goats, pot bellies, llamas, horses etc)She is a good weight and has no health issues. Very cuddly. "

again another dog that has spent too much time locked up in a box and not enough time running around .

Burnt_Servo, if you ever get a Flat-Coated retriever needing adoption drop me a message, doesn't matter where in Canada.

in both those groups there are more than a few . I have been told it is fairly easy to bring a dog across the border ( I haven't done it myself )

I did a quick search and I didn't find any groups that deal specifically with Canadian dogs .

any word yet on these two sweethearts? It would make me so happy to hear they went together to the same good home!

the ad hasn't changed so I would imagine nothing has changed .

I don't think anyone will find a more loyal and loving dog than a heeler , and they are insanely smart . and if compared to a gsp , vizsla and weim , they are low maintenance .
