Sending A Bear Fur Rug To China.

Sure, you may have to fill out some important documents.
Arrange shipping and when arranging said shipping you might wanna make sure that the ships Port of Calls do not have any issues with said hide passing through their Country.
For example a Polar Bears hide passing through a United States Port will not be allowed and will be removed even if the container is in the deepest darkest part of the hold.
Check the BC Hunting Regs. there is/was a company on Brown road in Richmond who used to/still does export hides to China.

And then of course after your married bring them over here as refuges so they can get life long government assistance cheques each month, plus free health, dental and eye care. Then they will be really impressed.
 
Give Fedex or UPS a call - not the "local pick-up/drop off spot", check their website and find the number to their respective "customs broker" department.

Someone there can answer your questions.

There are a ton of customs brokers that deal with over seas shipments etc, those two will probably quote you the "worst price", but at least it will give you an idea as to whether you want to proceed or not.

You will probably require a CITES permit, possibly some documentation from a government department (Ag or Health Canada maybe to certify that it doesn't have some disease or whatever) to meet whatever entry requirements that China would have etc, affidavits as to how it was harvested and by who - and a pile of other stuff that I don't remember anymore (used to do customs processing for Fedex). Don't know what kind of agreement we have with China, so might need a broker on that end too (but if anyone is set up there it will be the biggies like Fedex, UPS, DHL - forget a "domestic broker", you want a company that is "everywhere").

It isn't difficult to send a box of "widgits" but once you try and send something that was "alive" whether it was plant or animal the red tape just piles right on.

I already hunt black bear every spring so I figured this year take the hide to a professional taxidermy instead of giving the hide away and figure out the legal process of shipping it to China.

I used to send Australian kangaroo hide to China without an issue but it was many years ago. Better check with the carrier as it may need to be declared.

They would be immigrants, not refugees. Huge difference. Refugees are displaced people whos personal safety would be in jeopardy if they were forced to return home, not someone who could voluntarily choose to leave their home to go elsewhere.

If someone immigrates because you sponsor them, YOU are responsible for them. If they can't get a job, they are ineligible for things like welfare.

These guys seem to be trying to sell Canadian bear furs to China, so it would seem its legal?

Dental isn't free here :s need insurance or pay out of pocket
 
China is part of the CITES agreement and may require documentation stating your bear is legal under that treaty. I believe the same is required for US hunters wishing to take a black bear home from Canada. Since the black bear isn't endangered it should be fine to export from Canada. Into china is something else altogether.

US hunters are exempt from CITES if they have the hide and meat in their possession on their return to the US.
 
you will an export permit from CITES as black bear are on it but you will need also an authorisation from your Environment office giving you a paper about leaving the province.

so at least two papers.

black bear are endangered in Asia and Russia that is why there is CITES on that specy. local situation is not counted on the CITES.

When your ancestors come to canada as refugees, were they married or unmarried? Is marriage a prerequisite? You seem to have expert knowledge on the matter. Please advise.
 
i would get in touch with a fur auction in Canada. the Chinese are large buyers of furs of every description ,wild and raised .they are exported out of the Toronto airport as there is an auction close by. best of luck.
