Poor Ruger #1's!!

I've been playing around with the idea of doing up a #1 for my father with all the ideas I have for one - of course I have a few other things on my plate currently that would need completion first.
What's not to love! Wouldn't change a thing...
That is utterly disgusting. Full wood and single shot. Pffftt, need stainless tactical style with DM.

To me a #1 is like a pretty girl, I can't stop looking and want them all.
Ruger No. 1s definitely need a safety upgrade out of the box. I can't stand the stock one. TROP gun parts makes a fantastic one that should be OEM (listening Ruger???).
I also hate Ruger's folding rear sight, maybe it is just personal preference but I would prefer a peep sight like the scout's, but attached to a scope base, either that or the same rear sight they put on the Boddington special editions.
Other than those two things they are great rifles just as they are.

I'm all about that and I personally have no need to stock a No.1 with synthetics, but I'd sure love to have some chambered in .25-35 & .32-40 as well as .375 Win. Toss in one in .33 Winchester to boot.

Throw 32-20 and 25-20 in the mix as well... but I promise not to mention the other similar sized round for fear of reprisals.

You will not find fault or weakness in Ruger's investment castings. You speak from Internet rumour and not knowledge. Ask an old machinist about quality investment castings.
Not questioning that their casting strength is safe, just their business decision to cheap out by casting everything from receivers, to bolts, to revolver frames, slides, etc and then doing as little finish machining as possible. I think they would cast a barrel if they could get away with it. I'll never pay MORE money for a cast gun then a forged or billed built piece. They don't cast because it makes a better stronger gun, they cast because it's cheaper then machining from bar stock, and less machining in the end means lower skilled staff putting these together. I just expect more for my $$....and I bet 90% of the guys that own Ruger centerfire rifles have no idea they are cast.
Investment casting is anything but cheap, quite the opposite in fact. The reason other companies don't do it is because of the extra expense and time involved. Yes there is less machining, but you then trade that for time and cost of the raw part.
Then what exactly is the problem?
I know they are cast, I also know that they are much tougher than required (over engineered) and have never let me down... "cast/milled" is of no consequence... "function" is the deal.
