Really that would have been easier. He did sell me a nice m-24. I was eyeballing a arisaka Finnish rifle he is selling but I am not a fan of Japanese rifles.
One question were the Finnish on our side or the Germans or on their own during ww2?
This is a very deep question...
From my understanding, they were not really on either side.
So basically they got invaded by soviet union, fought their resistance war, lost (kind of) then received aid from Britain, Sweden, Belgium, France, USA, and Germany to fight Russia. Then later in the war, Finland fought against Germany.
I like to think of Finland as being independent, and more favorable to western Europe.
"Finland alone - in danger of death, superb, sublime Finland! - shows what free men can do."
Winston Churchill
Broadcast speech
1940
"A nation which has fought so valiantly for its independence deserves respect."
Joseph Stalin, 1879-1953
"The Finn has a fresh, unspoiled, primitive side that exists in close harmony with nature. He feels stirring in his blood a special kinship with the wilder variety of nature - with virgin forests, unproductive fells, and the animal life that haunts them... Wherever his foot wanders in the city, however far fortune lets him ascend the wheel, his roots remain deep in the soil."
Hudson Strode
Finland Forever
1941
They fought for their independence, and got aid from whoever would help them.
