Found and bought a m39!

I bought it from P & S Militaria actually the wife bought it for me it's a pain to buy from them they only take a bank draft. Had to go to the bank and a whole thing.

You did well with the M24, not many of those in Canada. I know a lot of people looking for one.

So I guess, now that you have a M39, and M24, you will be needing a M27? M28? M28/30? :p

I am absolutely happy for him!

I wasn't kidding though, I'm glad it's over :p

I think only if an M39 is modified to take AK magazines can we call it an M39-D :D

Howling raven is coming out with a 10 round mag for the Mosin Nagant very soon. I will be putting one on one of my less rare mosins.

I haven't shot it yet it's rainy and wet here afraid it will rust wait til it drys up a bit. The m24 is extra long should shoot a little different.

Yeah its probably nice to wait for a sunny day ;) But these old Finnish rifles have seen some very bad weather I bet. Do you have this book? http://www.amazon.com/Mosin-Nagant-Rifle-Edition-collectors-only/dp/1882391217

If not, you might want to get it. Its got lots of good information in it. Lots on mosins, and Finnish ones too.

No I am on lockdown. Done buying rifles for a while. But maybe a m-31 Suomi or a .22 Russian ppsh

Jean will accept EMT.

Really that would have been easier. He did sell me a nice m-24. I was eyeballing a arisaka Finnish rifle he is selling but I am not a fan of Japanese rifles.

One question were the Finnish on our side or the Germans or on their own during ww2?

This is a very deep question...

From my understanding, they were not really on either side.

So basically they got invaded by soviet union, fought their resistance war, lost (kind of) then received aid from Britain, Sweden, Belgium, France, USA, and Germany to fight Russia. Then later in the war, Finland fought against Germany.

I like to think of Finland as being independent, and more favorable to western Europe.

"Finland alone - in danger of death, superb, sublime Finland! - shows what free men can do."
Winston Churchill
Broadcast speech
1940

"A nation which has fought so valiantly for its independence deserves respect."
Joseph Stalin, 1879-1953

"The Finn has a fresh, unspoiled, primitive side that exists in close harmony with nature. He feels stirring in his blood a special kinship with the wilder variety of nature - with virgin forests, unproductive fells, and the animal life that haunts them... Wherever his foot wanders in the city, however far fortune lets him ascend the wheel, his roots remain deep in the soil."
Hudson Strode
Finland Forever
1941

They fought for their independence, and got aid from whoever would help them.

Yes its true. Not very written about.

Finland fought against Nazi Germany from 1944-1945.

Often called the "Lapland War" it was a Finnish victory. They wanted to kick out the German army.

Very interesting discussion of the Finnish involvement in WWII. They did what they had to! They got help from Britain to hold off the Russians, then they had to ally with the Nazi's to hold off the Russians and then they had to make peace with the Russians and turn on the Nazi's. It's complicated!
