358 Winchester gurus I need your help

Has anybody had any luck getting 250 gr bullets to have a trajectory that doesn't resemble a sharp rainbow?

BC No matter what bullet you choose you are not going to turn the 358 into a long range rifle. I assume you are using this rifle on big game hence using a 250 gr bullet. Can I suggest you try a lighter mono-metal bullet such as the Barnes 35 cal 225 gr bullet. It will out penetrate any cup and core 250 gr bullet but it will shoot quite a bit flatter. Hope that helps.

I tried some 250 Partitions on top of a few different powders, 3031, 4895, 748, but could not get them to group to well. IMO they take up to much powder space. I think a 250 RN Interlock would work better as it is somewhat shorter. The 225 Partitions would be a good choice if you are looking for deeper penetration on large game, and would shoot flatter. I have used 220 Speer HC and they are accurate, but hard to find. The ones I use the most are the 200 SP, and 200 RN Interlock. My next to try will be the Sierra 225 Game King SP, and Sierra 200 RN Pro Hunters.

I worked up a 2400 fps 250gr load for my BLR sub moa and a good 300 - 350 yd rifle. Know the limitations and practice is important. Send me a PM and I will share the info.

My best is with a Speer 220gr FP, yes hard to find but I did score a few boxes and was able to achieve a very accurate 2500 fps sub moa load.

Dunno, 180's seem to raise above the 200's by near a couple inches at a 100 yards.
Same powder charge too.
I wasn't convinced I need to toss out 250's for any reason.

OK guys it's time to pack it in I don't think he is interested on what we have to say.
I hate it when they ask for advice and never come back to follow the thread.
Cheers

Sorry work and life commitments have kept me from having time to formulate a purposefully response. Bigbull to address your question I'm trying to accomplish getting the most accurate/useful load possible. Main target is deer and black bear but hoping this is my year to draw a moose tag in the leh, so that's why I was asking about the 250's. Also I managed to get a sub moa group at 100 meters using 3031.

9.3 hunter I will deffinetly send you a pm for some info thanks. 300 meters would be my comfortable limit with my rifle and scope so it sounds about perfect thanks.

To everyone who took the time to respond thank you. Sorry it took me a bit to get back

No Worries bcb, life happens.
I can speak of one bullet that I use for deer in 3 calibers, 35 Remington, 358 Winchester and 350 Remington Magnum all loaded with the 200 Hornady Spitzer,
they have always delivered stellar performances on many deer at various ranges from 30 to 150 yards, always pass through's and short recoveries,
I think this bullet would work well on black bear also, the 225 partition would also be another good bullet but I have not used it. Tried the 225 Sierra, great flight but opens quickly,
great if you can keep your shots in the lungs, also tried the 200 Remington PSPCL, it works similar to the Hornady, I have not found the need for heavier bullets but would not hesitate to use them.

Seat 'em out and load 'em up... done.

I use a MAX loaded 225 Partition in my two, when I need some serious terminal punch.

The rest of the time, moderately loaded 200 FTX bullets do the job just fine.

I too have settled on the 200 gr Hornady spitzer's.
I had used the 225gr. Sierra boat tails on a black bear with good effect, but the damned Sierra's are like hens teeth these days.

20" Browning BLR.
