good / cheap bullet for long range shooting .308?

I am shooting more and more rounds, and I am tired to getting short in bullets and re-start developping a new recepies...

Any good bullet available in good quantities and cheap, suitable for long range shooting on paper / gongs?

What distance are you trying to shoot at?
Campro 147gr look promising, I can report back after this weekend when I put a few through a ladder test and try to stretch their range.

Good and cheap... nope not really. Sadly you can only pick one. If you want a good bullet it isn't going to be cheap: If you want a cheap bullet it isn't going to be good LOL
The best bullet I have found for hitting gongs at long range is the Hornady 150 grain FMJ BT (.308) Part #3037
They are good and can be found almost everywhere. I pick up a box or two when ever I find them at shows or stores and have over 1200 projectiles stocked up.
They usually run 40-55 dollars per 100. More now because our dollar sucks.

lapua scenar bullets, because they come fro europe rather then the usa they are always available and the price is a bit better then what comes out of the states, check with hirsch precision and look into either boxes of 500 or 1000 to get the volume discounted prices

You're going to want heavier stuff most likely for 308; depending on your rifle, for distance either heavy Scenars, Hornady AMAX, or Bergers. None of which are especially cheap (the bergers are just flat out expensive!)

I've had good luck with 175gr Sierra Match kings and 178 gr amax's.

For cost effective shooting to 600m and occasional to longer, Hornady 168 grain BTHP match or Speer 168 Grain BTHP Match.

Both decent and good to get trigger time under your belt.

Dont forget the Lapua Lockbase 170 grns as well. Excellent bullet with a low BC. I use them on target out to 1000 yards and gongs out to 1200+

I like the 155gr Berger hunting vld, $60 for 100, for hunting I like Barnes 150gr ttsx $55 for 50, so definitely a lot cheaper.

178gr Hornady HPBT. Accurate, great BC, great price. Bergers and Lapuas are the best but the op wanted to find bullets that don't require taking out a mortgage
