That came from the early days when Armscor/Squires Bingham was trying to adapt modern looks for their .22 rifles. That same stock was also seen in early (circa 80s) air rifles. I believe they even make an absurdly looking AK rifle in .22 LR. Correct me if I am wrong, the internals are the same as the box-mag fed semi-auto. Mixed reviews? Depending on who you ask. Feed him with a good HV round, you will be fine. Some shooters had success in CCI Stinger and other hypervel rounds. The looks? Definitely awkward. But back in the 80s, that is the closest you can get to a tactical rifle in the far east.
