Savage 10TR le/military

Well, I found the answer by searching a bit, and I'm pretty sure that it is equipped with a standard button rifled barrel, instead of the 10TR who's equipped with a 5R barrel. I like the 10 rounds mag of the 10 FCP-SR, but for good precision barrel I should go with the 10TR. I prefer a superior barrel that a bigger mag :) A well placed round make useless others rounds waiting in the mag ! Haha. Not true in target/long range shooting, I know...

I had sold my 10tr stock and mag to fund chassis but backed out of chassis. So i was left without stock. Happened to come across one of off aFCP-SR on the EE, just got her in the mail yesterday and it fit like a glove with the extra space in the mag!

My only grip with my 10tr, well not realky a grip but the "if I could improve one thing" would be the bolt slop wen its open. Do te aftermarket bolt body solve that issue?

You can get bolt bodies that are .700 of an inch and those supposed to take 90% out but like previously mentioned in the thread is that the floating bolt head design will have slop on an open bolt. So i dont know if that will affect accuracy or how it will sit with the bigger bokt body

Not all of them are like that.

Well I guess I will have to take back my last statement. I havent shot my 10 tr in a couple of months. I went and check the bolt play and it's actually not bad. Could use some tightening but nothing to make a fuss about.

That is definitely true. I compared mine with a couple of other 10TRs (4 or 5 of my buddies all have them) and there were varying degrees of slop between the bolt body and the action. Some were nice and tight and felt like they were custom fit, mine was probably the worst of the group (and when I say worst, it really wasn't all that bad). I replaced mine with the PTG unit, and it did take up a bit of the slop, but in reality, I could have lived with it but I'm easily amused with bright shiny things, lol! Perfect example, the factory bolt body for my 110 is a perfect fit, but I ordered a PTG fluted bolt body for it anyway. When it arrived, it didn't fit, lol! I'll have to polish it down a bit to get it to fit, so I'll post pics when I actually get around to it.

Ok guys, i'm convinced... I just ordered a 10TR :)
So, does someone did bedded the action with good improvements?
Also, what would be your first improvement on the rifle?
I'm interested about and cool aftermarket bolt, and I would like to install a muzzlebreak in some time. What are the good muzzlebreak choices over there?

Thanks in advance!

I havent. Never heard of it. Would be cool to see how it works and what way it adjusts.

I have a nea muzzle brake on mine for like $50 from CanadaAmmo. Does the job and matches the contour of the barrel. Bolt bodies come in different styles and designs so you will have to see which one you fancy. I dont think it matters on the bedding because of the metal block in there.

You asked if there was a felt difference pre and post muzzle brake. He answered by saying yes; the recoil feels like something between a 223 and a 243 calibre.

Ok got my 10TR yesterday. Cleaned it, cleaned the screw holes of the rail that torqueda nd lock-tited aplied.
Is someone tried to smoothen / polish the bolt guide? It is firm and not loose, but it is king of picky on how I can cycle it, I have to push very in straight line to make it cycle properly. If not, it jams... I Wonder if I use the polishing paste it can help?

Any inputs / advice?

Can't wait to test it ;) Great rifle, a lot for the money!
Thanks.

I didn't have that with my 10TR, but I did notice that with my 110. It is getting better, but I just pulled out all the working parts, cleaned it, hosed down all the working parts with G96. It seems to be getting better. Maybe someone else has a more scientific approach?

So I can sit in the couch with my rifle, and cycle the action hundreds times while waching tv one time, I should improve?

Mine does that too - almost have to close the bolt from the base of the handle. The knob just misalign the bolt and it fetches up.
