Ruger American Rimfire vs. Savage Mark II .22lr

I don't think enough people own the RAR yet. Once more people buy it and start seeing what it can do out of the box, it will develop a large fan base. I haven't shot any of my other .22's since I got it.

ive got both the RAR and a Savage MKII BTVLSS.
the question you need to ask yourself is how good of gun do you want.
my savage cost me twice what my RAR cost me.
is it worth twice? IMHO no.
while the savage is a super nice gun and a super nice shooter i shoot my RAR 10 times more.
its a lot more fun to shoot for me.
i think a lot of that is the mags.
i loath the savage mags and love the ruger mags.

also i find there are a lot more aftermarket stuff for the RAR so far and i am one fella that likes to add toys onto my gun.

so i have both and for me the RAR is a better fit.

I didnt know you are a lefty. How do you find all your right hand semi autos?
Brass deflector?

I got a savage MKII FV-SR 16" bull barrel plastic flexy stock. I've shot out to 300 yards pretty consistently hitting a 9" rock, watching the bullet disintegrating on impact.
Pretty good at 50 m too like 3/5 groups are 1/2". All using aguila HV ammo. All with just sandbags front and rear. Its good enough for me, but I really wish I went the the TRR just for the better stock. As getting a new oen from boyds with bottom metal and trigger guard will make the rifle cost as much as the TRR.

I just had a look at a MkII with heavy barrel and accuTrigger.
Felt like a solid rifle.
I currently shoot a match rifle, but looking for a pinker....
This might be the one.....

ive only ever had a problem with one of my AR's spinning them into my face and after a couple hundred rounds it fixed itself and i havnt had the issue again.
use to leave nice red marks on my right cheek, little hot brass tribal markings!

but overall ive never really had any issues.
that said i havnt tried any of the bull pup type guns, id assume those would not be good.

So, take the training wheel trigger flappy thing out.
That should drop the trigger weight considerably.
Rimfire Central has some good tips for these Rugers.

Trigger down to 1.4 lbs ( 10 pull average ). That was the quickest trigger job I have ever done... lol... And save 130$ not installing a Timney .
