$650-$750 is more than fair. I wouldn't mind adding another to the safe, but $875-$1000 is too high. Unfortunately, like almost everything in Canada, retailers can charge more simply because Canadian buyers are willing to pay more. I wish you the best of luck.

I owned a p38 about 15 years ago. I always loved how it looked and felt in the hand. Very nice gun indeed,
But it was the most inaccurate pistol I ever owned. I never did learn the "trick" of shooting it accurately LOL

I got to thinking about it after I wrote this post,..It was 26 years ago ! man time flies. $250 bucks with holster & 2 mags in excellent shape. Lots of cash for it back then.

Not all P-38's are created equal, and your laughing after admitting you're no P-38 expert is a bit premature.

If you say you have "AC"'s then those would be the most interesting of the pile. Price will then be driven by condition only (all-original, arsenal-refinished, etc.).

The picture you posted, appears to be a Mauser non-import. Good one, but I can't really see whether the numbers are matching. It's stamped 1944, but the S/N is in the 1### range, so it's, probably, a police-issue, but to confirm, you would need to look at the markings. If you can't find the police markings, then question the seller on what it is they sold you.

Russian-capture ARE NOT the same as the all-original, don't let anyone persuade you they are. Non-matching, arsenal-refinished guns are very rarely a collector item, and sometimes aren't really good for shooting. In brief, they are usually crap, you have to look really hard for a decent specimen. If you are looking for a piece with a "history", then look for a bring-back, not a capture.

I'm also willing to speculate based on the "provenance" of your guns, that your biggest pile would be CYQ, aka Spreewerks, made in the Czech Republic. Those are typically some of the least desirable of the bunch.

That is not to say that you won't find people grossly overpaying for P-38's for the "cool factor".

Never seen an AC or a BYF go for under 800. Especially if they're in good shape.
CYQ marked P38's go for around the price you posted, and post war P1's are cheaper than both.
The picture Dlask posted was a Walther factory made AC in very good condition. I'd be impressed if it were even $800 and I'd buy it in a snap

Nope, that's a Mauser, and a BYF, not an AC.

Mauser=BYF
Walther=AC
Spreeworke=CYQ
I must have mistyped, since I'm hoping to find an AC marked, as I already have a BYF

There's an AC42 offered for sale right now on EE for $625 shipped. According to the seller, only the barrel is non-matching (although I thought that AC42 S/Ns only went to 9197k and this one shows 9228f, so, something is not right). Waffenamts appear to be present, and looks OK. So, even ACs can be had for around 600 nowadays, it all depends on what you're really looking for.

Personally, I wouldn't even consider buying unless everything is matching. Even if it's the smallest mismatched serialized part
Just my preference

it's like me ... it just makes sense.It breaks my heart lugers have to be re-barelled. I need all matching , including lugers (minus barrel). Documented vet bring backs? brother please ... it's easier to find a good wife in a whore house.

9228F was manufactured before 9197K so it is possible ... You can find the same serial number on different pistols which is why you have to be careful. The letter is different and follows alphabetical order if that makes sense. Sorry i'm not the best at explaining. walther went to 10,000 then started at 1 with the next letter

625$ for a non matching AC sure ... as soon as you have a none matching part it's all down hill from there. It's like selling something with a missing or broken part. All collector value is gone and it becomes a shooter. Something else i hate is someone selling a pistol with a reproduction holster as a "historical package". If you buy collector items , educate yourselves and acquire a trained eye!

Surprised D-lask hasen't chimed in

I was waiting for them to chime in as well but guess they want the suspense to continue for awhile. I was waiting impatiently like the rest of us and after reviewing their OP stating that the guns were in house, I sent them a email asking for an update. Their response was as follows:

"We were contacted by a collector and are in negotiations to sell the entire lot to him. This is preferable to us instead of dealing with individuals please understand."

I kinda thought they were used to dealing with individuals as they sell products daily from their website so I guess they are going in a different direction..... Not impressed.....
