Hey Everyone, Ive been poking around different forms, websites and reviews on the North Eastern Arms rifles in 7.62x39 and finding a lot of mixed reviews about these rifles. From what i can find they are mid quality when you put them against other Ar15 Platforms, decent build but have to find the newer versions. I have couple Ar15s, one being a sig and the other is custom build platform, but was looking for something different in 7.62x39 and found these to be the most of what I'm looking for.

Heres a link to the product: https://www.canadaammo.com/product/detail/nea15-7-62x39-14-5-carbine/

So does anyone have any thoughts on these? Maybe own one or your buddy has one that you have shot?

Thanks guys!

They are as you have pointed out mid to lower range, however good enough for plinking.

Question: do you have a fire suit?

Oh.........just wait for it.

I know some review somewhere, i seen a guy had his bolt blown apart. I have a hard time paying $1100 if this rifle could have this many problems or be this dangerous. I have shot norinco rifles that are $600 Ar15s that lasted years of shooting and abuse. For $600 was more then happy

I had a gen 2 upper that worked fine... 7.62.
At this point I would just pick up a Windham though. Priced about the same but nice quality.

I second the Windham. I'm very happy with fit and finish, 2500rds and no issues so far. I would buy it again.

To answer your question, here is another thread about the make/model of rifle you're looking at:

Long story short, the OP seems satisfied now but had problems out of the box.

I'm that guy, rifle is running fine. Just make sure you get a Gen2. Regardless of which manufacturer you go with the big issue right now is finding mags. Stay away from the NEA mags some dealers might be selling, they're garbage.

NEA has gotten alot better from what I have heard, but still not perfect. I'm thinking of doing a custom build 7.62x39 AR-15. Only issue with the CMMG MK47 is that you don't have any 10 round mags to use for it...

I don't expect perfection out of the price range that they are aiming for, and that's fine.

What I take a problem with is that in a given month, NEA's products have a higher rate of people reporting major part failures or malfunctions than a bottom shelf company like norinco does in six.

Personally, I've owned a ton of their products, mainly due to trying to support Canadian buisness, but I have sold off virtually all of my stock. I don't like flaming a company without warrant, but I won't purchase NEA in the future again, with QC problems being the least of my concerns. Those that have been on these boards a while know the history of the company.

I won't attest for the modern generations of the products they produce, since I havent bought any for a year, but seeing the recent threads like barrel extensions cracking and such.... it doesn't give me any reason to change my mind.

Final note, I'm one of the fairer non NEA guys. I will only base my experience on what I have owned and touched, or the reviews of trusted others. I do my absolute best to avoid passing along false information. Prepare for the full body burn whenever another comes in hahaha!

May not be cheaper anymore with our dollar - did you factor the price of a lower?

Can't speak to complete rifles, but even with the exchange, I paid less for my complete PSA upper than he paid for his complete NEA upper. That being said, the dollar's now a bit lower, and I think the IRG price is a bit higher than it was, so PSA may no longer be cheaper. Would still be close, though.
