Do I really want a Desert Eagle? **Quick range report on post 85**

Had a chance to take it out for a quick shake-down today. Conditions were less than ideal with temperatures just above freezing and drizzly, which made it tougher to get a good grip. Ammunition was 240 gr Winchester White Box JSP. I had a few failures to feed early on when I was not gripping the pistol tightly enough. My irritatingly persistent tendonitis that I've had in my right elbow for a few months now made it tough, too. Once I bore down things went better, although you can see in the videos below I was getting some brass landing on my hat towards the end of the relay as my grip was loosening. Once I figured that out and gripped a bit more firmly that went away, too. I'd read about issues with not gripping tightly enough but I'd underestimated how firm a grip was needed. The recoil was not bad at all, quite pleasant, actually. It's a fun to shoot pistol!

Here's a more recent outing with S&B ammunition—this worked much better than the Winchester.

Thanks for posting! Like the OP I didn't find the recoil that bad and I was shooting .50 cal model.

No, it felt quite stable. I do like the feel non-finger-grove grips better than the Hogues that came with it...those felt a little "squishy" to me.

when you are shooing it make sure not to hold the magazine too. its supposed to free float otherwise you will get feeding problems. one other thing to watch is your factory magazine spring i had to replace mine after a short while. i just bought the junkie promag mag and swapped the spring from it.

a couple good rounds to try if you can get them are the SB made ammo and the leverevolution hornedy 225s.

Here's how mine arrived new from site sponsor. I absolutely love it, if you limp wrist it you will have the smack the slide to fully seat the round but its still very new and the spring is stiff. Recoil from my .357 revolver is much more severe. In .44 magthe eagle is very pleasant to shoot. I have a lot of pistols and this is one of my favs to shoot.
