I've heard this before. Anyone remember the FAMAE SG-542 rifles? TI was first to advertise (at an absurd price). ERE was first to market by nearly a year and even though they also gouged, they did so far less than TI who had to lower their unreasonable price targets just to compete.

If I had to guess, I'd bet TI will not be first to market. Past performance IS indicative of future performance much of the time, in my experience.

I too agree with you but I really want one of these bad and so be it if I buy one at 1000$ that's fine by me and if another company brings them in at cheaper, well I'll buy that oNE too!!!!

I won't be. When I bought my CZ-858 it came with 4 mags, pouch, cleaning kit, bayonet, a folding stock AND a full parts kit. Grand total of $850.

I want one of these, but at $1000 for a Chinese Rifle, I'll wait till an original owner gets bored with it and get it either cheaper, or with more accessories.

So you don't have to buy one at all ???? LOL

If there were no customers/consumers the businesses wouldn't be open , chicken and the egg type thing. We need each other its not one sided either way.
Last time I looked VZ 58's were over $1000 for one with a cheap plastic #### stock,I don't think the type 81 is any worse. The market will dictate the price, it's called supply and demand.

Its not really complaints but its alot of money for what it is.
Unless it shoot better than a CZ/VZ I don't think how its gonna be better.

I guess you guys wanna buy it because we can't have AK's and its the closest thing to an AK we can own, well i can understand that.

It sure looks cool !

Lets take as an example the GSG STG44. Everyone wanted one because it looks cool.
Two weeks after they came in, alot of people were re-selling it.
Why ? Its not that they are bad rifles but there is other rifles in the same price range that does the same job and in most cases, does a much better job.
People who kept them, its mainly because of the look.

I guess the same thing can happen with the Type-81, unless its a much better rifle than I think it is.

i Already got a few SKS, a cz858 , and now i will had that one in my arsenal, it a rifle made out of steel not a cheap rifle like a T97 or a keltec , right there the t81 will last longer than those

I can't speak for the CSA's, but there is a BIG difference between a CZ made Rifle and a Norinco one.

I was not talking about T97 and Keltec and i will never buy one of those.
I don't see any relation between my post and your reply...

Here is the Guns and Ammo article that seems to have disappeared from their website in its original format. This article, among many others in a simple Google search, speak of china's desire to find a replacement for the akm, which they felt was not accurate enough.

" The Chinese military's design criteria was accuracy of 1.78 inches R50 (whatever that means??) at a range of 100 meters,... " am I reading this correct !? 1.78" @100yrds is very impressive!

IF the $1000 dollar TI t81's could perform like that out of the box, thatd most certainly be a selling feature for me !

-but i'll only believe it when I see it lol

How much were valmets retailing for in 1984?

A lot. They are the top tier of AK's, but let's not get into a debate on those, as it will start an even bigger mess than one would imagine. There are plenty of "is it really worth it?" threads.

I'd much prefer a parkerized finish over blued. It'd be a tough call between an 858 and this; we'll see what the quality looks like on the first shipment.

Went to the show today.
I must say it feels pretty good for a 4 year old prototype.
I would vote parkerized finish as well.
On the AK mags subject.....he did say that they are working towards making sure they work and fit.
Would be nice to see what the first run will look like. Stained wood furniture and all. I think many here will be in for a good surprise.

I too prefer the parked over bluing.

Funny cuz people always complained about the bluke on the cz rifles and now parkerized isn't good enough. I recall every single glee cz rifle I ever had always started losing its colour on the barrel and other high heat/ stress areas.

I have cz/vz rifles and to me this rifle still has appeal. 1000$ or not I would still want to buy this over several other rifles out there.

Hope importers dont get disappointed, As long as I see 5 year warranty like the VZ i'm in for the rifle. Other wise it shows a lack of trust for there own 1000$ gun. Lots of chinese ak's out there that do fine.

With a warranty Centre like North Sylva for the csa rifles a 30 year warranty wouldn't even be good enough.

Your best off fixing the csa rifle yourself then dealing with them for warranty work. (That aside, Movie Arms did AMAZING work tho)
