It's not about black rifle tax... It's about the fact that they had to entirely tool up and redesign the rifle and have only 500 of each version produced...

No parts are surplus. All new built.

It's not cheap to have his rifle built, especially with how much is involved.

LOL whatever. In their forum they are quoting "under $800". Have fun with your ongoing TI shill.

Higher price because they've got new receivers and new bbls to make them NR, rather than being able to put them together from parts kits. Who knows how many other new parts?

From what I've seen, the design seems more kindred to the AR-180 than even close to being an SKS relative.

Doesn't mean I'm buying one (not the first run). Just tired of the same debunked talking points being chirp chirp chirped again and again...

More shill fear mongering.

It's a stamped-out piece of mild steel, made by the thousands for pennies each and the longer barrels are already made for existing variants.

The machined parts of the rifle are not integral to the receiver and the chinese already have these parts made in the millions.

If you do not like the prices then don't buy one. Four years ago it was quoted for being in the $800 range or something like that, now add on our low dollar and it brings the price up. This rifle is also newly made. Very few have been made for the civillian market, and one of the bigest buyers of firearms aka the United States cant buy them because of the norinco ban, we are the only ones who can buy them and we are only a small number of people. All these little things factor into the cost.

You clearly don't have a clue what you're talking about. Sorry man. Norinco has been making millions of T81's for their own army, we're just getting some slapped together semi auto one for our civilian market, that's all.

If you people pay $1000 for this thing, you deserve to get undercut by CanAm or Marstar when they get their stock.

It's not about beING undercut in my mind.
It's about wanting a rifle that has been in limbo for almost 5 years and if it means I need to pay a $150 more for it now then wait till who knows when, I'll pay the bit extra now

I hope the production models quality is better , cause I'm going to pass at this price point . Like everyone else mentioned I'd rathe get a vz for the money . Looks like a lot of fun though hope you guys enjoy yours let us know how they shoot !

Same here...

For the same price as a VZ, I don't think the Type 81 will be better.

I remember some of you guys were complaining about the prices increase on the CZ/VZ about 8 months ago.
Now people will pay a grand for this...

If i ever buy one of these in the future, I will not pay a grand for it and I will handle one before i buy just to be sure its not a thousand bucks piece of crap.

If no-one sells it under a grand, i will pass.

But it has equally the same chance to go the other way.

How's it going to look when CanAm's are $1200? cou:

It might go the other way but not with canam , they have proven time and time again that they are not price gougers. They often have the best price on anything they stock and have killer sales as well. It won't be them jacking the price that's for sure.

Enjoy your rifle that a couple of Chinese dudes in a state run factory made for pennies. I'll wait until the highway robbers have satiated you fools and have taken your money so the price drops. Thanks.

What does it matter what they cost to make ?

And for the record, I'm sure Norinco referenced the old blueprints on the semi T81 that was exported to the USA, so please explain why it was such a tough job for them as to warrant a higher price.

How do you know for sure?

Regardless of the blueprints, it's a new production not surplus so cost has to go up.

Wouldn't it be interesting if TI's 81's are the only ones that ever enter Canada?

Other imports see the stupid bickering and say "meh, where not bringing them in as we can't sell them for much less."

Then, watch the prices go through the roof.

Granted, but you see what AKs are priced at in the U.S. market now?

Even WASRs and other low end stamped parts kit junkers usually go for at least $600 USD, anything decent is $900+.

The price of the Type 81 should fall considerably once they're produced in volume and larger scale importers than TI get their hands on them, but expecting SKS prices is silly.

I never said SKS prices, I said CanAm has publicly stated they will be under $800, while TI seems hell bent on the $1000 price point. You want to make TI $200 richer per copy, go ahead. But this thread, I'm pretty sure, is one big running shill for TI. Check the OP's post history. I don't believe it's a coincidence that almost all his posts since joining CGN have been on threads dealing with TI's products.

If NEA were doing this, people would be outraged.

Since when cost influences market value? Maybe in communist economy, but not in the free market economy. If there is no demand and supply is high they'll selling below cost. So cost is irrelevant.

After seeing video I actually think I might will take one.

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think CanAms will be the $600 like people are saying. I think even $800 seems low.

I'm guessing $999 too.

Knew you would ;) and you're right

If you have time, you might want to head over and check it out at the show.

Oh I will enjoy it and considering it's a guess if and when another company will bring them in AND IF they do what they will price theirs at WHEN that time comes
