Question Paul. Was the 375CT what you used on your Caribou hunt? I was planning on using the RL15 load you listed but at present, it's not a powder I keep on hand. I had tried it some time ago in another calibre but never used it all that much. When I downsized my powder selection,:redface: RL15 was one that fell by the wayside. Inquiries at other sites, for both the 270gr and 300gr bullets, one of the most frequently mentioned powders was IMR 4064. From P.O.Ackleys books, it seems to be one he favoured as well. Also mentioned at a few sites were two additional choices, IMR 4320 and IMR 4350. Convenient as those three powders are a few I do use regularly and have a good supply of. The three,;) along with RL15 were also mentioned on the Accurate Reloading site. I have accumulated a selection of various brands of bullets in both 270gr and 300gr and recently also picked up a good supply of both weithts by Matrix. Enough to keep me busy but down the road I will have to give RL15 a 'go round'.
 
I have no desire to run a 375 H&H or other midrange 375 cal fast I have my 375RUM for that.

I am more than happy to load my 22" barreled 375H&H @ 2600fps with 270gr bullets or 300gr @ 2450fps.

So unless your into pushing to high pressures just go with the 375H&H.

Admittedly this load is warm but the accuracy is outstanding and the energy is huge with a trajectory better than a 300 H&H 180 gn load. I used this rifle and load in Zambia in 55 deg C + temps with no pressure signs at all, I also used the same load in the Congo and SA and Namibia.........no grief at all, no spikes and no stiff bolt lift. I must also add that this was chronographed through an Oehler 35P, not a Chrony or some other questionable speed measuring device.

Every bit of it.
I haven't seen Re15 show me any signs of temp sensitivity either.
 
I have seen noticeable differences in velocity at different temperatures. Maybe my ced chrony is a crony...

Of course it makes no difference if your load is not running redline.

As mentioned before, I didn't use that load other than at the range. While I didn't have any pressure problems while shooting it, I felt it was more than I needed and recoil was increased so backed off to a load giving 2700fps. I settled on Varget eventually. BTW, the Chrony gave other similar velocities for that R15 load.

Johnn, the CT looks fantastic done in all-black...what treatment did you give the metal?
 
I'd bet you the rifle, that it needs the larger "window" style mag box, and a flat follower.
Two rounds down, and no issue with feeding, even for you. With, or without gloves on.
