On the TT-33 Tokarev on the lift side of the gun bottom right it has a hook, What is the purpose of the hook? I feel as it is in the way and considering removing it, has anyone else, or anyone have any input ? I don't believe it serve's a function beside's hooking the holster onto it ?

EDIT: It is the lanyard loop i am talking about thank's for posting that. If i wanted to remove it what's the best way to go about it in your opinion without damaging the firearm's bluing. I was thinking just some Wire cutters and a file may do the trick a very small file

Hook? Can you provide an image of what you are taking about?

Do you mean the lanyard ring?

I just grabbed a picture from google but if you look at the bottom right, Hook may not be the best term. But yes the lanyard ring

It's for the lanyard (pistol leash) that would clip to your belt. Originally used by cavalry so they wouldn't lose their gun if it became displaced from the holster or they dropped it while riding. Then it became fairly standard for non-mounted troops as well. We used to call it the dummy cord.

Mine has the same defect,.......would you like sell it as is. :d

If Glocks came with them maybe less would get stolen out of cop cars.

Take the grips off. Apply pliers and give it a good twist. Gonzo! Shake all pieces out before reassembling.

!!! Do not cut it, do not twist it!!!

Take a punch and remove it from inside the frame ...

You will be able to put it back in place later if wanted

hey I'm left handed and I find it NO OBSTICLE AT ALL - my 1911 has, that on the bottom of the frame, as does my Beretta 92- you're making a mountain out of a molehill

I don't understand this negative argument, no one does feel a gun the same way.., what is your point ?

Hmmm ok, you do not have any experience with TT33, right ?

Then your post is irrelevant.

You know what , for what ever reason the Serb Zastava M70A [9mm] and M57 [7.62x25] don't have the lanyard loop .

Interesting, i have since removed it and found it seems to fit quiet better and alot comfier without it. Perhaps this was a reason, i can see why in WW2 they wanted it on so soldier's had it attached incase they fell or were knocked over by a blast/ explosion. But for just plinking around at the range it is not needed, Not sure if it's a Tula or what it is but it was manufactured in 1945 , will be looking into it more soon forsure

I can say that the Zastava M70A do have a longer barrell and a longer grip frame, wich is different from the TT33, the M70A do have a better feeling in hand (a complete hand grip)..,
