Hey Fellas...

I was cruising the Lipsey's website and came across this 10/22 version that I have never seen before...

I have owned three or four dozen 10/22's plus custom 10/22 platform guns over the past 35 years... I have sold them all off and have not been tempted in the least by any factory versions in years... that is until I saw this one.

This version is called the 10/22 International Classic... full length walnut stock, raised cheek piece, basket weave checkering... the amazing part of this rifle is the quality of walnut on them... most of the ones I saw online had incredible grain and figure, realistically the wood is worth more than the price of the rifle, as they are selling for $350 USD.

After looking for awhile, I put in a call to Clay @ Prophet River, and lo & behold, Clay had just received 10 of them and they were not on the website yet... at $500 CDN, they are a steal...I immediately said; "I will take one!" Clay picked out a beauty for me... (photos when she arrives).

If anyone is considering another rimfire, take a look at these rifles... call Prophet River.

Here are a couple stock photo's;

Very nice, I noticed them on the Lipsey's site today as I was looking at the tiger model Clay has coming in :)

Not into that wild woodwork... prefer clean classic lines... I would have preferred if the International Classic was left un-checkered.

Youre saying the wood stock is worth $500?
Mmmmmm k

That is exactly what I am saying... not all of them, but the top 25% or so have grain and figure that you would see on $2500+ rifles... not just in my opinion, Clay took a gander at the whole batch in picking the one that I purchased. You clearly have little experience with figured walnut... $500 CDN doesn't buy much of a blank... many run $1000 - $2000 and more, and these are not enhanced grain... cruise the online pics and see for yourself.

was just looking online, this model is the International Classic, not International.
checkering and better wood being the difference.

The top picture is the International with no cheek piece... that model has been around in various versions for years. The bottom picture you posted is the International Classic that is a new offering and the one I purchased, for some reason, they are receiving better than average wood.

The one we are sending you looks quite similar to the pics in the first post. There are some real beauties in the ones we received. Will be bringing a few to Calgary gun show :)

Thanks again, Clay... I feel this is a great value in a rimfire rifle.

Clay is such a good enabler. ;) Looking forward to seeing the new rifle. I don't shoot my 10/22 much anymore, so I will just enjoy other people's builds.

Beautiful rifle hoytcanon. I was trying to stop the Ruger madness that's going on at my house right now, but an Email has been sent to Prophet River already. That will make my first full wood 10/22. If I can get one as nice as yours I will be happy. My wallet thanks you.

ive always wondered this about mannlincher type rifles..... are the barrels free floating or bedded or nothing (nothing as in tied down at the front and back and hope for the best in the middle)?

its a shame they didnt put some better sites on that gun, with some nice sites that would be a real keeper.

im slowly talking myself into buying one of these arnt I?

Yes you are!!!!! My deal is done. Clay is hand picking mine tomorrow and sending out to Ontario. I can see a set of skinner sight in the future...

Most Mannlicher style stocks have the center portion of the forend "hogged out" to relieve the barrel, and then then last 1.5" or so at the muzzle are pressure bedded with the end cap securing the barrel to the stock... in my experience this does not adversely affect accuracy, in fact a couple of my most accurate rifles have been full stock rifles. On an individual basis it might affect the accuracy, just as any stock can ... of my three dozen or so fullstock rifles, only two required accurizing that may have been attributable to the forend... and these were dealt with in the same way that I would a regular stock.

well that cheek piece just saved us lefties from buying a new $500 rifle , then a new scope, and of course you would need a new trigger of some kind.

Fortunately, I have a VX-2 3-9X40 and a VQ-2000 sitting in my shop... ;)
