NEA 15 7.62x39

Thanks for all the updates guys. Im looking into as many different rifles and manufactures as possible. Im trying to find the best product in the price range of $1000 or so. I have rifles builds that are over $2000 and up and I do not need anymore serious rifles ATM, I just want an AR Platform for the surplus 7.62x39 Ammo.

Problem with these NEA rifles is so far is half think they are a decent rifle and the other half thinks it is garbage ( but with maybe 20% only owning the product.....)

Well take it from me, mine blew up and they fixed it without any questions asked. Would I buy it again knowing this? Yes. Best bang for buck x39 AR out there IMO.

O/P, I've had no issues with mine. I have bought mine in the fall of 2013. Probably over 1500 rounds down the pipe. It's a 14.5" barrel version with decent brake. I run the Canada Ammo Dominion Arms x39 that's non corrosive. I bought 3k rounds when it cost 200$ per case. Everyone I know enjoys shooting the NEA. It gets a bad Rep because of early failures. Buy a NEA lower. It won't mate with a dpms or Colt lower. There is however less slop in the rifle compared to my dpms. I get good accuracy. Minute of cantaloupe with open sights off hand at 200. If you were living in the Toronto area I would tell you to meet me at the range and judge for yourself. The weak part of the x39 AR 15 is in the mags. Regardless of what you buy, get ASC made mags. I've had 1 failure to feed.

So far from people like yourself and TheWhole9Yards, I'm happy because you guys have owned and shot the rifles a lot. From what i read as long as you get a newer Gen 2 you are in the clear with better bolt, quality of the build and less to none failures. The price i think is fair for a complete rifle for $1000. Im not in total need of it just yet, some I'm going to wait for the dollar to get closer to par and see if things come down a bit.

Save your money, seriously the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. shipped me a rifle with the wrong bolt, broken BCG. implied I lied, challanged me to get it to fire, even after a video showing the defective parts took more then a week to get a shipping label = 7 weeks for a useless piece of metal, which I still don't have back. Avoid at all costs!

Who? The distributor you bought it from or NEA?

NEA themselves, Distributor was great, offered a refund right away, But as I wanted this caliber in this color so I chose to have NEA resolve it/repair it. I have nothing nice to say about NEA at all. even after 6 weeks of back and forth they sent me a label for the cheapest, slowest possible return available. been 6 days, haven't heard a word.

Im sorry to hear that happened to you. Im still doing more research on them and seeing deals. Mostly waiting for summer and see if the dollar comes back. So far on here and everywhere else, Windham is nothing but good news!

I'm shocked to hear this, I had great service from them - I paid return shipping!

NEA has had their problems, but their worst problem is a group of drama queens who won't let them live down Shillgate on this board. I've repeatedly asked for examples of total failure etc., fact is if any part breaks it = explosion to the ABNEA crew. Other rifles never have parts break do they...

Admittedly there were issues with earlier generations, but other than cgn, I can't find anyone in other countries complaining about NEA.

I've never owned an NEA AR.
I do own an NEA 10/22 barrel that works great, and I do own an NEA Swiss Arms lower that needed further machining to make it right and have parts it is designed to take fit properly.
I've also worked on 3 AR that were NEA or had NEA parts - all of them had fitment issues.
If I lived in a vacuum my experience alone would lead me to believe they have QC problems. When I combine that with the reports of critical component failures and catastrophic failures that have been documented, I simply can't find any justification whatsoever to purchase their ARs or AR components when there are a plethora of quality parts at good prices available though multiple sources.

I would argue the 'best bang for the buck' currently is the Palmetto State Armoury guns.
Your positive attitude toward your NEA rifle is quite honestly, baffling - Considering your rifle suffered a catastrophic failure after just FIVE rounds. No offence intended, but I find your story so bizarre that I remain sceptical as to all of the particulars of it.

This is also leaves my gobsmacked.

People shill for items (intentionally and unintentionally) all of the time. I think what should not be forgotten is the level of concerted effort that was done.

we have nea rifles here in new zealand , and no one has complained or had the failures that you guys speak of , my 5.56 one has preformed flawlessly , when i get to live in canada (near end of year ) i will look at buying a 7.62 one ... its jjust a damn shame you cant hunt with one in canada ....

That, to me at least, speaks to perhaps a greater level of care given to products destined for foreign markets. The rifles available to Kiwis are considerably more money than Canadian rifles are they not?

None taken. I'm impressed that they fixed my gun with no questions asked. That could be as simple as them knowing they have a bad batch of rifles out there, or they are just that committed to their product.

I don't care, I have a functioning rifle that does what I want it to do. Don't get me wrong, it sucked. I thought I would be left with the pieces and honestly didnt expect them to fix it - I suppose thats why I would reccomend them.

Why are you gobsmacked that I had to pay shipping? Its written in their warranty policy that they only cover shipping on outgoing warranty repairs.

Ask me angthing about the failure, I'm interested in your skepticism.

x2 brother..

Core group of around 5 major haters and a group of 'supporters' that say 'yah what he said' a lot. Will not listen to reason or any objective criticism of their stance, just cry about one thing that maybe happened some years ago.... Really hard to separate facts from emotion with this crowd. If their products and service were as bad as these guys say, they would simply not be in business still would they?

One thing is certain, it was a really bad marketing strategy, bit them on the rear big time...and the PSA 9mm IRG's has on the US site is depressing the crap out of me.
