Alpharms SA15 shotgun review .. Sorta... Update post 32

Pretty sure from Grade 13 Physics that leaving your mags loaded won't do anything. The spring is not worked and is well within its design limits. It is the constant motion back and forth that wears on a spring within the design limit length of travel. Because of the grade of steel springs are made from, they have a long life of motion. Keep it compressed within it's design limit, and it isn't wearing out/breaking in at all!

The way to get your mag. worked in, is eactly that. First take it apart and clean/lube/remove obvious burrs etc. in it then put it back together and work it with loading/unloading. Sit on the couch with each one and load/unload as you watch TV. Not only does that work the spring back and forth, but it gets the follower to rub up and down on the inside of the magazine body to smooth out that motion too!

It's going to be intersting to see these shotgun being used this hunting season!
I'm just hang out waiting for canada post to drop my SA15 off

Yep the folding stock is about 1.5" to long for me and the rear sight sucks
I can only get 4 rounds in the mags as quirky as this shotgun is I can't whait to take it hunting lol

So played with the mags yesterday and did the following: stripped the entire mag, sanded the follower, feed lips and all top edges of the mag.
Broke out the calipers and the measurement of the forward 1/4" of the feed lips were as follows:
Mag 1 - 16mm front lip
Mag 2. 17.19mm
Mag 3. 16.54mm
Mag 4. 16.71mm
Opened the feed lips on all mags (front 1/4" only) to 18.70mm

Hit the range and ran 40 rounds of Dominion Arms low recoil slugs without and issue.

Couple fail to feed with various buckshot and slugs.

The gun is not the issue, as I stated earlier any issue is going to be mag related.
It's pretty clear the springs are too long as you can barely and I mean barely get the last round in, and on one Mag only 4.
I'll be trimming the springs down to lesson the massive tension placed on the top round against the feed lips.

The action on the shotgun runs great, DA low recoil slugs would not run in my Benelli M4 but they run in this one.
Stay tuned.

Wolverine... If your following this thread the mags need some attention.

Can you create a walkthrough with pictures of both what you've done and plan to do? I think that would be incredibly useful for many, myself included!

Well I just picked mine up from the post office and spent a few hours going over it and a couple things stood out for me.

- The front polymer rail is kinda out of spec and nothing that will fit to a picatinny rail will fit on the front polymer rail part top or bottom, The rear metal rail seems in spec and stuff will fit onto it, But the polymer rail is too wide and thick so I would have to use a file to try to make it fit which is something I don't want to really do.
- The magazine release button is hard to press in but I realized that its the magazine spring holding the follower up to the top and pushing the magazine down so if I press up on the magazine the button pushes in easy and I can get the magazine out better
- Anyone figure out how to take the buttstock completely off the tube ? I know my other ones you pull and hold the button out and the locking pin clears the back and you can then slide the buttstock off the back but this one on the shotgun doesn't seem to work that way. I can't seem to figure out how to make it come right off the tube to replace it with one of my other ones.
- The bolt knob is very small and uncomfortable to use
- The stock sights are not that great the front sight post is massive wide if you were to shoot at a chicken I think the front post would cover it up and probably the 2 or 3 chickens standing by it which is why I would love to put one of my extra front sights at the front on the polymer rail but none will fit because it looks like a picatinny rail but it is way off in dimensions. The rear handle sight does have a flip up ghost ring or the standard open tab you can pick what you prefer I almost missed that.
- The gun is light and doesn't feel like any shotgun I have ever handled it almost feels like a toy really.

Well that's my first thoughts handling it tonight ill spend some more time with it tomorrow after work.

Thank you all so much for changing my mind on this gun. All my peeps bought one with similar issues. Saw them first hand...Terrific price, but I held off.
Think I will hold out (also sold by Wolverine) for the 16 round UTS pump. No issues with this 4th generation pump, and I'll bet I can pump 5 rounds out of the barrel as fast as the auto!

I will not accept negative posts based on what you saw or heard from some one else. Let's keep comments to our personal experience's or I will delete them, thank you. :)

Fair enough - so here is my personal experience.

Got mine, had issues with it. Got a hold of them.

Wolverine is taking good care of me unlike a few other vendors.

That is why I buy :canadaFlag:
