Wolves: Kill 'Em All

I can see the validity of selling say 50% of some 'trophy' species (ie sheep) to the highest bidder, but still having a draw for the rest. But species such as moose, elk and deer are often sought after to put meat on the table ,not for 'scores' .I will happily take a 3 or 4 year old bull moose or elk...better eating...

None of this is unfamiliar or new. And, not unexpectedly, many hunters with "real world" experience attribute it to a wolf problem. Its not. Its a classic habitat/wildlife management problem. You (we) have fundamentally changed the landscape, and then seek to blame wolves for what happened next instead of taking responsibility for having caused it ourselves. Wolves are just doing what they have always done.

so how do you take responsibility??? How do you fix the problem?? Ten hail Mary's and buy a Prius?

Wolves keep coyotes away, and coyotes cause much more harm to livestock, children and people's pets.
Leave the wolves alone , maybe some people posting have some deep seated insecurity issues regarding wolves and are trying to organize some kind of wolf lynch mob.
There's not a lot of rationality to a lot of the posts.

My wife is really into wolves and so I've had to learn a lot about them. They are very interesting critters with well developed social structures and family units. Legitimate cases of wolves attacking humans throughout recorded history are extremely rare. Get rid of all the wolves and watch happens to the prey animals. Chronic wasting disease anyone?

"Only the mountains have lived long enough to listen objectively to the howl of a wolf" this from "A Sand County Almanac" author - Aldo Leopold. I think he pretty much sums it up in that statement!!

There will never be open season on bats in 40 acre fenced enclosures.... The problem being that, unlike upland game, when you clip their wings to make them stay put they cant move around much and then it just gets messy....

Makes "clubbing" easier... otherwise you are back to tennis racquets...

My inadvertent strategy involves my fishing line....... When wader fishing at dusk, they tend to run into it and land in the water and are unable to get out....... Unfortunately, sometimes the back of my head during blackly season seems to be a trap as well....

No chance of the buggers gettin' tangled in "my" hair... unless my britches is down...

The diference is humans are no longer 'hunter gatherers' - we cut down forests, dam rivers ,build roads and railways, cities, clear land for farms ,ALL of which alters the 'natural' ecosystem...

My 9 year old son and I are heading out all depending on snow pack either the last week of May or first week of June for 3 - 4 weeks in northern central BC.

We will be hunting wolf & black bear, fishing for arctic grayling/trout/kokanee etc, prospecting, dirt biking, pack rafting remote rivers in our Alpacka raft, best part is we have the coordinates for buried treasure.

Our main camp will be appr 300 - 400 klm from paved road.

I'm taking my Rem 700 XCR 11 in 25-06 loaded with 90gr Sierra Blitzkings for wolves going to shoot everyone I can.

Please don't take this wrong way because I am genuinely curious as to why you want to shoot as many wolves as you can.

I shoot all the raccoon and beaver I can on Haida Gwaii thanks BC fish and wild life we are over ran with them
you think Wolfes are a problem
The beave dam the spawning beds have had a big impact on the chohoo
Raccoons are brutal on the nesting birds to the point wear grouse are at risk of becoming in danger species
Ar problem go right to Fish and wild life raccoons and beaver wear introduce and with no predators we are becoming overran
The fish and wild life need to put as much as effort into cleaning up their mess thay made on Haida Gwaii as thay do with wolfs

You have to wonder what would happen if you had no predators to keep thing in check on the mainland.

Because they need more harvesting than the very, very few doing it can provide, and so the few doing it need to do as much as they can...

This is a non-answer like "because". I'm looking for specific reasons like they're evil or they stole my hubcaps or they hit on my wife or wolf pelts are worth big $$$. Something. Just "because" goes against everything I've ever heard from any hunter. All of them had some reason for hunting, be it for food, trophies or money. None of them have ever said that they go out to kill some animal just "because".
