Shorten PAL Approval Times

I am at 47 days, so I called in today, and it went straight to a message saying they have a high call volume today and then the line went dead!! they hung up on me.

First time PAL applicant from ontario here:

Took the CFSC: Feb 21
Mailed PAL application(without course report): Feb 24
Application arrived in Miramichi: Feb 26
Application online and credit card charged: Mar 14
Received Course Report in the mail: Mar 21
Faxed Course Report to CFC: Mar 23
I called in and was told to get a reference to call in, so I did: Mar 29
Checked online, my licence was issued literally seconds after my reference called.

Total time from being received at Miramichi: 33 days. Not bad considering the extra-long easter weekend.
Big thanks to Calalta for this thread! I definitely wouldn't have gotten my PAL this fast without it. Cheers.

Well, I phoned again and got thru.
this time I am told that the 28 day waiting period starts once the application arrives at the CFO not when it arrives at MirimachiRCMP. and then she says that it just got to the CFO a couple weeks ago, so i have to wait another couple weeks until the CFO starts to work on it. I told her that the application has been with them for 47 days now, she said they have a 45 day process then it goes to the CFO??

This seems different than what most of you have been told and what I was told before from the RCMP on other calls I have made, I questioned her on the 28 day wait and she stuck to her story of the wait starts with the CFO not when it arrives with RCMP.

Anyone know what the $30 RCMP charge is for? They billed it a day or 2 after our applications arrived in Miramichi.

Don't know what the 30 bucks is for. I thought it was 60.00 for PAL & 80.00 for RPAL. Mine showed up online day 20. Reference phoned same day. Day 28 license was issued. 7 days it came in mail. Started buying ammo, 20 gauge Remington came in mail today & my first restricted was put in the mail today. Seems different for every application.

First time PAL/RPAL applicant from Saskatchewan (British Citizen with PR living here)

Passed both PAL/RPAL tests: 28th November 2015
Mailed PAL application with course report: 2nd December 2015
Application arrived in Miramichi: 17th December 2015
Application online and credit card charged: 26th January 2016
Reference from UK to call in: 24th February 2016
Called In 29th March 2016 and verbally told licence card will be sent out in the mail this week.

Had to provide a UK police certificate (ACRO) as l have only been in Canada for 3 years, So that probably delayed the process for me.

CFSC Passed February 6th; received results back on March 9th.
PAL Application received in NB March 14th.
Called today as application status is not available online. Was told to wait a couple of days, check online status again and if not online to call back.

My reference called at 2 pm today . Only took him maybe 5 minutes , ad only really asked two questions . How long he,s known me and if he thot I was a menace to society . Still shows in process

I figured out my $30 charge. It was for my 14year old sons application. Oddly I now only see 1 charge, but there was 2 when I checked last Thursday.

And

His app was sent to the Ontario CFO not Mirimichi.

I had a $40.00 charge to my credit card for my RPAL application (I had a valid PAL). Sent to Mirimichi.

Called in today and application has been sent to CFO . They said it could be 2 to 8 weeks more time . I,m thinking that's just a text book answer ??. How long is an Ontario PAL / RPAL usually at CFO ??

I have been very happy with the pacing of my application so far;

-Received on March.3rd
-Online by March.18th
-Called in for missing information March.18th
was told everything is all good and have one reference call in
-Reference called in same day

Only been 15 days and everything seems spiffy. I would not be surprised if I had my license issued on the 28th day haha.

Edit: March.18th/2016

-Went from processing to "In Progress" March.18th

In progress to ISSUED March.31st

Holy crap what luck!
Exactly 28 days and bam all done and done!

Ok . Checked just now , Licence issued . If not received within 2 weeks contact them , Yee Haw .. No bad boxes checked on mine . So I think that was , received feb 10 th and issued march 31 st . I,m sure that if I had my reference guy call as soon as possible the process would have been faster . Good Luck to those reading and following behind me .
I would suggest have your reference person call as soon as possible AND I would say make sure you use references that are all ready PAL/RPAL

Mine took 7 days to arrive to Ontario from License issued. My handgun arrived in mail today. RCMP said permit to transfer & registration will arrive next week. Then I'm good to go.
