A very lightly used upper Sandusky m37 was in the rack at the LGS today. Boy the pump was smooth. Like unreal smooth.
The gun was a featherlight "field" gun, which is odd since it had a vent rib. Apparently ribs on field guns is the new normal.
The only complaint i had is that I got a good look at the new "machine engraved" field scenes on the receiver. Dear god it looked awful. Like a 6 year old drew it there with a sharpie that could engrave metal. It ruined the whole gun for me.
The older roll-stamped and flat sanded scene was finely done on the king ferry and earlier examples and actually looked like real cut engraving. This new look is clearly done with a rotary cutter and it looks cheap. Really cheap.
I think if I buy a new Ithaca product it will be a loose barrel for an older receiver or a non-featherlight model so I can skip that awful hokey rubbish they are putting in the sides.
So disappointed
. And it's a $1400+ gun new!!! This used one was $899.
