What would happen if SKS disappear from market in Canada (westrifle.com)

It has been stated before by a particular importer that the Chinese sks is no longer being imported into Canada due to the increase in price at the source, and not due to availability, if I recall correctly. I wonder if they would sell in this current market with EE listings in the $400 range? My guess is that you will see them again.

Seems like another shameless ploy to plant the idea that the supply of SKS's might dry up so you better hurry and buy one. I'm so done with SKS's. People seem more than willing to gobble up the new breed of imports in the 1k range so who needs an SKS now. I never understood the attraction, but I'm glad people have had fun with the platform. I've bought a few and promptly sold them. They don't serve any real purpose other than making piles of casings. Isn't that why everyone owns 10-22's ?

Maybe your tin foil hat is on too tight to notice that the main supplies of good quality SKS rifles has dwindled?

What serves no purpose, is you commenting on this post by 8 sentences of completely nothing of any value to this post. If its not your gun nor do you have interest, then go away and read something else.

I agree the new bunch of SKS refurbs that are coming in are not as pretty as the ones of a couple years ago, I have found some real gems in the batch, namely more non refurbs,, some have been shot some don't seem to have, I find that cool! No matter how much hype is put out there I have not and will not buy an SKS for more than $200. I look for the sales or try and make a deal with the sponsor by buying more than 1. In my gaggle of SKS I have a 49, and a few izzys including one non refurb 53 and a non refurb 51 Tula that I actually got fron Westrifle here,( that was about 2.5 years ago though!!) once they climb above that price or ammo goes above $300 per crate, then I am out! Everyone has their number where they start thinking it's not worth it anymore! The problem is, the importers get a good price by purchasing high volumes, so when the volumes purchased start dropping, the suppliers may raise the price,,, OR they may lower it to try and encourage more buying,!! Who knows!

Agree on the ploy part...

OK then....I've been in the gun market for 40 years. This is what I have personally seen happen over time.
Lets do a comparison - The military 303 Enfield & the military sks. Both were made buy different countries ....and there was a Huge amount of them built. You could buy the 303 for $18.00 at the surplus store. Now they range form $80 to $300 on the EE. My first sks cost me $79 bucks. They now sell from $100 to $249. The prices don't change much.
There is still a TON of 303 rifles in this country that can be bought cheap, and that's 40 years latter. The SKS story will be NO different. The 303 surplus ammo dried up, but people reload....and they will do the same for the 762x39. Nothing drastic is going to happen folks. There hasn't been any new Enfields made since the war and there still readily available for cheap. Don't hoard them or baby them or collect them...shoot em and use them.

A better question what happens when all the cheap surplus bullets disappear, the SKS will disappear as a result

For x39 that will not happen
There are billions of rounds sitting surplus and more being made eveyday.
I believe that once the ammo being made now, gets to a certain age, it becomes surplus and most armies won't distribute it to troops so we get it at a discount, is this true?

I just realized I was discussing another seller in Westrifles forum, sorry, I would have removed my comment but this forum doesn't have that button, feel free to remove comment # 72, Westrifle!

There are already half a million of them in the country. More than enough to keep the EE going for a few decades!

There would be a million of them still around but the price would go up substantially . As it is now I can't go to a gun show without seeing somebody trying to sell them for more than they go for in the store.

Stock rifles at that, not even customized and 90% has only had less than a 100 rnds.fired. Cough

First off fan of westrifle and always appreciated the quality of your rifles.
I think the bigger question here is what is westrifle going to do if sks are no longer available.
I think you do surplus rifles well so why break the mold stick with what you know.
Fin m39 seem available in u.s. so why not here.
If the surplus rifles are drying up how about quality replicas of old firearms. In modern calibers so ammunition is easier to get.
