Judging by the petitiom going around... Less than 25k...
Not enough - everyone should own their nation's service rifle
I can't afford a complete rifle at the moment, but I can afford a stripped lower. Since in the eyes of the law that's the rifle, I'll be the proud owner of an AR-15 (to my door for just over $200) once the transfer is approved, ARRR!
As for the petition, what we need to do is have a few marches on Ottawa, and none of that crazy "out of my dead hands" BS. We need to get big numbers, no camo, and no nut jobs exercising their right to walk around with a long arm. We need to sway the public, not public servants. If we all show up in Golf Shirts and Casual Slacks it'll be that much harder to paint us as Wacko's.
Unfortunately Antis might show up wearing camo, etc to make us look bad. Or they might try some provocateur crap. How do we counter this?
I really doubt that is even remotely accurate. Not every AR-15 owner comes to a site like this where they would see the petition. Even the ones that do may not sign it, especially if they own shorties that would never be non-restricted.
Don't get me wrong, I signed it and I think all gun owners should but not everyone cares about rocking the boat.

I'd build or buy a 20" barrel Upper in a heartbeat if they became NR.
I already have a 20" barrel just waiting for the day people come to their senses.
It was more of a joke/kick at the bucket comment than an actual act but you are right about everything else.
I own a shorty (10.3") and a 16" but would build a 18" in an heartbeat should the become unrestricted. Unfortunatly, a lot of people wont sign because they dont believe in it, dont want to put their "precious info" on a petition or any other "good reason" I've heard...
And there is the "dont need/want one so #### it" crew...
Gotta love our community...
