USPSA In Ontario

The Classic target is a harder target to shoot than the Metric, stage design varies on region and areas that you are shooting. It is more common to find hoser stages in USPSA, but you find them in IPSC too sometimes. More and more USPSA matches are throwing in Classic target stages too. While I think we should have been able to keep the Metric target as a target for countries that had no issue with it, I don't mind the Classic. Some places will actively discourage building stages that are obviously scenario themed, others don't care. I will admit to missing the cool scenario stages with the dramatic written stage briefings, but in the end the shooting was the same, and the WSBs started to get a bit long in the tooth after a while. I do wish we could have Polish plate racks and Texas Stars in IPSC, they are a ton of fun. I also find it hilarious that IPSC says we are the more practical side, and that we are sticking with our practical roots, but then remove Pepper poppers, Metric targets and scenarios from the rule book. But still, properly designed stages are a hoot to shoot regardless.

To puts all this in perspective, especially to all the new shooters in the various disciplines, these will seem like the 'good old days'! NOTHING stays the same ! The only thing certain is change.
So enjoy shooting at your ###### targets, vilify and ignore the folks that have carried and used a gun for self-defence and like a more realistic scenario, concealed carry matches, the tombstone target Bianchi people (now THERE is a discipline that separates the pussy crybabies from the men!), but HAVE FUN doing it and try to laugh at yourself sometimes. And try the other guy's sport, that is the only way your criticism means anything, otherwise you are just running your mouth, being an unwiped ass!
These WILL be your good old days and YOU will seem like a curmudgeon to the young guys complaining that the only game in town is Airsoft and video games and they are being banned because they are 'too violent'!

Someone needs to start a 3 gun style shooting group that has NOTHING to do with IPSC or high school politics. I can drive 2 tons of steel and glass down the road without joining the NHRA then I can put targets in a non-linear fashion without IPSC saying its ok.

People do that all of the time. If no one is doing that in your area, look in the mirror and find someone to make it happen.
+1

I'm organizing events at my local, very tiny, indoor range. We recently ran a practice geared towards Steel Challenge events, but we can't run steel because of ricochets in our tiny play area. So we had a couple stages of a "Paper Plate Challenge" after the practice. It was fun!

I'll be organizing a small 2-gun event this summer and I'm planning on making it newbie friendly - think bench shooting with a .22LR rifle and pistols. I want to introduce more people to the shooting sports so I'm making it happen in a safe, structured way. If they have fun then I'll point them in the direction of better training and larger matches. It's like sending the kids off to college. :)

Get some like-minded members together, talk to the Range Director, and make it happen. Just takes a little motivation. :)

Like Runningfool said; no one's stopping you - pitter patter - get at 'er - be that someone. Stop talking...err...typing and do it.

Also, IPSC has nothing to do with 3 gun...never has, never will but if it serves your disdain toward that sport and it's thousands of participants; you go right ahead and think that.
It'll be tough, but we will persevere and try to manage to have fun without you.

A quick statement about these recent IPSC bashing threads and posts...to the sane people just reading along.

If you don't like IPSC - just don't do it. Why come here and whine about what you don't like? Go shoot whatever sport you like.
IPSC isn't for everyone and we don't try to be. We have no problem with other disciplines. All shootin' is good shootin'.
Whining on the internet under an anonymous alias - not so good...

See I guess people like myself who sometimes air dirty laundry are to blame for people thinking this way. :(

Maybe because of how active IPSC is and it being in everyone's face more often it is perceived by some as being full of "high school politics" and misery? Not even close.

I've said it before, it's the most amazing sport I've been part of. Depending how much involvement you have you end up meeting great people from all over your area, province, country and even the world.

Matches are plentiful and everyone at them is willing to help the newbies.

It's so easy to be blinded by insignificant things. I even posted recently about an issue I had. I'm completely over it and regret even posting it.
