This is my first ever home gun project. I purchased an SKS with the plans on ripping it to shreds, but ended up with a very clean, matching number, hard wood stock, '51 Tula that I just couldnt bring myself to alter. I went to Cabela's and bought a second, laminate, non-matching number SKS on sale that had a few blueing issues and scratches for a smoking deal. I ripped off the stock and bayonet and replaced with an archangel kit that I ordered online. I then installed the kwik rail and a Bushnell red dot site. I never really planned on changing from the attached mag for fear of creating feeding issues but I didnt realize until after mounting the kwik rail that I was not going to be able to feed the mag with stripper clips anymore. LoL. So I ordered some duck bills and took them to Ironsight Kustoms here in Edmonton to be prettied up. I had butchered a few of the installations (gas tube) and it was really scratched up and looking horrid. Cody really cleaned it up nice. Its like I never butchered it in the first place. My only regret is not doing all of this to a HiCal SKS with the mag adapter and barrel chopped down. Im not about to attempt those projects on my own, and he basically told me it was more than the gun was worth to have them do the mods to mine. So here is the finished product (minus the red dot) I havent picked it up yet, these are a few of the pics he has posted on the ironsight kustoms FB page. I cant wait until next weekend when I can mount the site and take it out for a few hundred rounds of fun.
