What is it with the factory CZ mags? I've read this sort of comment a lot. Is it just when they are used in the Shadow? I had a regular CZ 75b for a while and the factory mags seemed to work fine.
I find it a bit greasy that some dealers are asking for money up front to reserve a Shadow 2. We all know this is pistol is going to sell every unit Canada can import for the first year plus of production. There is zero risk of a dealer ordering some from the importer and the simply taking people's names down in the order they call in. I can see maybe a $100 pre-payment that is refundable if the customer changes his mind, but a non-refundable deposit or full payment up front I think is uncalled for.

Adds to the drama and creates the illusion demand will outstrip Production. Time will tell whether the gun sells well at the suggested price point. Hope so as I would like to pick up a regular Shadow used at a decent price in the fall.
Gun weighs in at 46.9oz vs 41.6oz for the regular Shadow. Are the grips 5oz heavier than the rubber grips that come with the Shadow? As it comes the Shadow 2 is to heavy for IDPA and to big based upon it's published dimensions. Gun is heavier than a full size 1911.

I put my money where my mouth is and preordered a shadow 2. I already have 2 Shadow 1's but I really wanted it and I've been a good boy this year. My birthday is in July, while I'm not holding my breath that I'll actually get it by then, it would make a wonderful birthday present for myself! my feeling is that it will be at least as good as my current shadows and possibly better. I'm willing to pay for it. That said I have no intention of ever selling my current shadows. At the very least they can be backup/loaner guns for IPSC. I may even convert one to SAO and add a slide ride red dot for 3gun.
I would expect that the price has been locked in from the importers down to the dealers, but would also expect to see any that make the shelves to be priced higher than the pre-order price. I've paid up front for pre-orders on a bunch of different items over the years, usually to secure a good price, or to guarantee getting the product when it arrives. Not sure how it's greasy when it's offered here.
As for the weight, longer slide, longer dustcover and longer barrel. There's your weight. As for it's suitability for IDPA, I can tell you that there was exactly zero concern or thoughts given on it's suitability for IDPA during it's design and development. This gun is built for IPSC and possible LE/Mil issue (and yes there are some agencies looking at it already, the same ones who issue Shadows currently), although LEO/Mil didn't really enter into it's design parameters in any meaningful way.

Rob you need not be so defensive, The CZ 75 Shadowline was made for IDPA SSP Division. Short dust cover, less weight, perfect gun for IDPA. CZ USA Rep showed me the gun a couple of years ago in pre-production mode. Love the newer frame with the upswell Beavertail. The Shadow2 will find a small niche market in Canada. Guys will quickly find out they don't shoot any better with the Shadow2 over the existing Shadow. It is and always be the archer not the arrow.
I was curious as to where the weight difference was since you really can't tell from the pictures. You answered my question.. thank you. It is a very big gun, I am sure it will dominate IPSC Production.

Not being defensive at all Bob, just repeating exactly what I was told. We had a guy come to the booth and ask this question. As you state they made other guns that are more suitable for IDPA, but this gun has been done from the ground up for IPSC. We've spent a lot of time taking input from a lot of shooters on the design and features. Perhaps further down the line you'll see something come from this gun for IDPA, but I doubt it. As for the Canadian market, I wouldn't say it will be a small niche market, dealers haven't been able to keep Shadowmates in stock and those cost more than this gun will. And, while you're right the average shooter will not notice any real improvement (other than the one people always get when they get a new toy), dedicated shooters will notice improvements in a number of areas. There is some science behind this gun, more than one would expect.
I don't believe taking money for pre orders is greasy. As a customer, I know that my name is on it - so when it comes in, i've got one.
I would pay full price for the firearm if offered, it makes no difference to me when I pay for it. We all will be getting it around the same time any ways.
