Saving $650 buying from U.S

Again stop being so emotional and angry. But thanks for proving my point. And I didn't say anything about you not having any experience with transporting stuff across the border. Not even sure why you brought that up Jr. Yet you tell me i have to do more listening lol. And yes I do have it all figured out for this. I can save hundreds of dollars buying from Irunguns and its easily proven. Are you saying otherwise? Tell me which part I dont have a clue about lol. Tell me that I wouldn't save hundreds of dollars buying from irunguns in the u.s and $700 buying a colt le6940 from irunguns in the u.s than buying it from Canada. Tell me all about how clueless I am.

with all due respect, the original post is somewhat useless. everyone one here is familiar with irunguns and if you want to buy from them, do so. If you want to support dealers who go through the proper distributors, do that. that is your right as a consumer. canadian dealers have mark ups built in through no fault of their own and this is not just true with firearms. telling them to "step it up" is pointless, they can't.

edited to add: ive ordered from irunguns and other dealers depending on the particular item i was looking for. irunguns can be a better deal sometimes, sometimes not.

Its not useless at all. Maybe Canadian retailers should look into doing what irunguns does and a few other importers do and get importing licenses so they can be more competitive and profitable in this low dollar environment.

Irunguns is still a Canadian company, they have a warehiuse and staff here too. Not like some online only companies.

I am personally tired of the limited avalibility of parts too, thats why Brownells is my go to company, too bad Midsouth doesn't ship to Canada.

I don't think the retail outlets that are gouging us, it's more the distributors. Look at the time when we were at par with the USD, book and magazine costs were much more. Why? Because we as Canadian as a whole roll over, and not #####. Westjet and Air Canada never lowered fuel surcharges or fares when the cost of oil bottomed out, why? Because we accept it.

irunguns found a niche in the market by having addresses in both sides of the border, ingenious. Its been a few years, and i am shocked why other companies don't copy their buisness plan. Save on shipping, save on permit costs, and i think they have a loophole throught the CBSA that they can charge GST too only for pst/hst provinces. Another savings, i may be wrong though.

just make sure you know EXACTLY what you wany, as returns can hurt if YOU order something wrong, or if a part needs replacement it may take a bit of time to get it back. Most larger items allow the Cannadian warranties to be applied.

...and in all fairness, I did notice that pricing at certain Canadian retailers stocking similar products DID move downwards when IRUNGUNS entered the market.... so there were benefits even for consumers who DIDN'T deal with IRUNGUNS....demonstrating basic economic principles...more competition... lower prices....

IRG has a good business model, offers really competitive pricing. Bought my colt le6920 from them when they had a special while the dollar was at par, I paid total including shipping, taxes, etc to my door 1200$CAD
Now the dollar is not at par so their offerings are less attractive

I remember those days!

:ang

That being said, it's supposedly making our exports more competitive...

Yep, IRG was making a killing when the dollar was on par with the greenback, and those Walmart priced Colt LE6920s were just over the top cheap. I think pre-2013, a Colt M4 was running about $2,50 or so?

There was defninitely a reaction from Canadian retailers that summer (2014?) to IRG getting in the game. Just about everyone was slashing prices. Wolverine was blowing out their DDs for just over $1k, SFRC had frequent sales on ARs, and even the prices of Norc M4s took a dive for a bit, but not quite enough. I remember a US-made AR could be had for less than the price of a Norc (DMPS I think it was?).

Those were the times, but since our dolllar took a $hit, I've been been struggling to find a deal with IRG that I can't get through the LGS.

Its true. And people seem to get angry about that fact that you are saving hundreds of dollars buying from the U.S.

If anyone goes through your post history they will see that you are a first-class troll. You inflamed the thread about entry-level ARs with your crazy statements, and others are biting upon your bait here too...

Right on, another user for my "ignore" list.

because....emotions.

I've purchased guns in the states in the past (when our dollar was good), and depending on what you are getting, I've saved hundreds. One gun in particular I saved almost a $1000. For my past purchases I used Prophet River.

Was in Philadelphia couple years ago, saw a gun on sale, and used Prophet River. It's actually quite a simple process and got the gun in a matter of weeks. It also depends on the gun as well. Not worth going through this process to get a Remington 870 for example...but if you want a higher end gun or a gun that is not in stock anywhere, STI 2011's, Benelli's, etc. It can definitely be worth it.

Buy one then, and let us know exactly how much it came to when all said and done. And how many months you waited.

I cannot buy one yet.

I'll bet I know why...

Yeah, his post history is a bit trollish and he appears to know alot about firearms for a guy who just finished his safety courses and mailed in his application only two days ago.

You buy a Colt le6940 from irunguns for $1400. You add $25 for flat fee shipping to their Alberta office. You pay with mastercard and add 2.5% to the foreign exchange rate for the date on the date of transaction. So 1425 x 1.3316 = $1897.53. At that point they ask you to pay the GST. 1897.53 X 1.05 = 1992.41. Then add $50 for shipping to your house. 1992.41 + 50 = $2042.41

If you buy from A candian retailer you pay $2400 + 13% = $2712

For those emotional people who think you need a firearms license to do basic math and think 5 minutes worth of research isnt enough for this elite group.

So knowing alot about firearms and speaking the truth makes you a troll? Amazing how the Canadian forums are full of rude miserable people compare to the American forums. One would expect the exact opposite but i never get in to fights there ever but here its almost every thread someone is rude
