Ontario spring turkey 2016

I've never gone Turkey hunting myself but my friend who lives in an area full of wild turkeys jokes that the best thing to hunt them with is a 5 iron. They just sit there ignoring you.

My son and I were done for the day at 6:15 am...

Worked two toms in... counted to three and I shot the bird in the left and he shot the bird in the right... his was bigger.

It was raining lightly but no wind... nice morning... we are back in the hotel getting ready for a nap.

I'm out in woods right now since 430. 3 coyotes stalked my decoys. I think they scared the turkeys. I have heard only one gobble and then all quiet. It has been raining in my area since 5. I may pack it in by 8. Try again tomorrow. Good luck everyone

It was quieter than normal this morning... the toms didn't gobble on the roost and didn't gobble at the decoys until they were within 100 yards... they stopped to gobble a few times on the way in... once they were in the decoys at 30 yards, I counted to three and we both fired at our chosen bird (the one on our side)... they went down flapping.

I don't think he would have needed much more than a 2x4 to bag that turkey

There are videos for everything... get into the bush, with a tag, during the season and try it...

I can kill geese at the golf course with a putter, that doesn't mean you can do that in the field during hunting season... try actually hunting and get back to us on how easy it is.

We used to feed a big whitetail buck apples off our back deck at the cottage... go try to take a big whitetail buck in the field during hunting season... when you do we'll talk again... it'll likely be a couple decades from now...

Good stuff!..... Hope you made the young lad do the dirty work after with your gimp hand and all..... Lol

The only yelping I did today was in the truck on the way to work..... Stuck in traffic and wishing I was in the woods..... I think I don't feel well Thursday and Friday.......

Pretty much. A number of times, outside hunting season, I have had to stop on the road and chase them off so I can get to work. Come hunting season if I dare to blink, even while dressed head to toe in camouflage, they bust out of there.

Well, opening day was an interesting one. Called in two nice jakes at first light, then proceeded to miss the bloody shot at 25 yards! Im still trying to figure out how, but if i was to blame something, i would pick the earmuffs. Fast forward 4 hours...i called in a huge tom to about 20 yards when i decided to drop the hammer. Cant wait to put him on a scale. He's far bigger then my bird last year

We tried to call in a few Tom's, but they did not want to play. I got a weird feeling about my car and when I went back I saw that I got a nice surprise from the welcome wagon. Someone threw a fist size stone through my back windshield. I guess they were upset they could not trespass to hunt this morning. I am cooling me heels in a auto glass store. I will post pics later.
