17 hmr ammo?

I still own/shoot an HMR...but the way things are going, a small .20 cal centerfire and a progressive press may be in my future. When HMR climbs over the $0.50 a shot after tax (around my threshold, I think) then I may draw a line in the sand. I'm a slow/low-volume reloader with a single-stage press...and I can crank out extremely consistent/accurate .223 for about $0.75 a round. Not comparing the two calibers, just the two shooting experiences and what I use both for~varmints.

might go that way too once I'm setup for reloading... thats a shame I LOVE the 17HMR

Love the 17s in general, but it's because of the possibility of shortages or obsolescence of the rimfires that I went with a 17 Hornet. I can always reload and even fireform cases if necessary. With my on-hand stash of bullets my cost will be $0.35 per, once I have to start buying components at current prices will probably go up to about $0.45.

I can't see why they would reduce the production of the 17HMR for christ sake it's more popular than ever... I get why the 5.56 and military calibers could be less available but why the heck would they produce less civilian ammo ? especially when where is demand.

my stash is getting low, and my search brought this thread up, anyone seeing it pop up a little more? i'll be checking TNT on the weekend. cabelas is a no go and i may even step foot into WSS to check it out, (eek!) I'm thinking the sale of 17 hmr's was quite successful and lots of people dropped their .22's the last while with no .22 ammo available, now everyone will be running out getting a .22lr caliber rifle again because hmr is not available. this is of course just my conspiracy theorist opinion and holds no validity or information to back it up whatsoever. :)

Definite patterns in .17 and rimfire in general as far as supply goes. Winter shelves tend to have a selection, summer shooting season runs things down. I've seen A17 at Cabela's Winnipeg last night.

Three weeks ago wholesale Sports in Regina had a pile of CCI bricks of 200. I picked up 2 bricks on the Saturday, drove the hour home and kicked my butt that I never got more. The following Monday I flew back up after work and bought 4 more bricks. Since then, I've been up there and checked in and they have none :(

the guy in provost ab has lots do he says but you are paying 250 for 500. I went around Edmonton last weekend and didn't see any but found lots of .22 in south common. last .17 hmr I bought was at prophet for 13.50 for Winchester hv. Those prices are long gone.

What did they charge for them? How do they shoot from your gun?

I payed around $70 last year for that a17. Groups in the 2+" area in my cz. Hornady and cci group inch or less. It is faster then the box says in my gun though.
