Ruger m77 left hand issue / question

Snapshot just refused to order a Ruger part for me two weeks ago. That's how I figure that. Then I called Ruger and once she knew I was Canadian she told me she couldn't speak to me and hung up. That's how I figure that.

I have dealt with Carole at Snapshots dozens of times over the years... she has always been friendly, efficient and offered prompt service and super fast shipping... any parts available in the USA and legal in Canada were in my hands in short order... so what part did they refuse to order?

There you go: get hoytcannon to order the part for you. Hoyt... Do you see a business opportunity here? :)

A cross bolt.

A cross bolt for what?

You have my curiosity up... I will call Monday and see what gives.

I am assuming Chuck is referring to this thread..... Kind of a "unique" situation and one that Korth and Snapshot are not used to dealing with..... Pre-altered rifle and a request for a part that doesn't actually belong in the rifle in question.....

It sure does belong. Their cross bolt should not be very unique to them.

If I am not mistaken, the Alaskan does not come with a cross bolt...... That is what I meant by "does not belong"......

From what I can read on that thread, you pre altered a rifle before shooting it by removing stock material, and are now asking a warranty center for a part that was never initially included with the rifle in the first place....... That just isn't how warranty centres work......

One thing Snapshot/Ruger does expect, is the serial number of the gun that the part is for... so do other manufacturers, to ensure that the correct part is issued... if the part being ordered does not match the serial number, then there might be an issue... I have also order parts from Numrich many times for various firearms, and often to specifically modify a firearm in a fashion that the OEM would not be happy with.

You are mistaken on all counts.

I asked if I could have them get me a cross bolt. The lady on the phone said "no". I called Ruger. They said "we can't talk to Canadians call Snapshot". I would have said "eat rocks" but she hung up too quickly. This is not Rocket Science.

You are mistaken on all counts.

Sorry Chuck........ I somehow didn't paste the thread link..... My bad..... Here it is....

http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1393414-Ruger-issues

Did you not releive material from the stock and bed it prior to shooting it in factory condition?....... That's the way I read it....... You did x and y and then you took it out shooting?......

A quick look of images online shows a cross bolt in the foreward part of the stock, but nowhere near where you say the issue is......

Just trying to understand which pre-existing part you wish to have replaced by the warranty center, and whether you altered the rifle prior to shooting it.......

I'm not looking for warranty!

I bedded the rifle, made sure the tang was relieved and shot the rifle. Their piece of crap stock that should have been double cross bolted cracked. I phoned to request to spend money. They said no. What part of this don't you understand?

I think I'm starting to understand the problem...

Actually, it seems I understood it pretty well....... You made alterations to the gun prior to shooting it...... Then something went south.... You feel it should have been double cross bolted yet bought it in factory state without double cross bolting it yourself, while performing other mods you felt were necessary...... Then you called a warranty center to get a part that isn't even associated with your rifle, and now you are confused as to why they can't provide said part....

If your dealings with them were as angry as your response to me, then I can only imagine why you got differed elsewhere......

I think Hoyt has your answer...... Either brownell's or numrich would likely have the cross bolt you seek at a decent price...... You are looking for a new Ruger part, not native to your rifle...... Not a warranty replacement.......

While I do respect that we all like to tinker with guns, I never do so prior to putting some factory ammo down range in my rifles in "as shipped" state........ Gives you a much better leg to stand on......

I think todbartell has a strong warranty claim...... You, not so much.....

What part of "I did not ask for warranty" don't you understand exactly? There was no conversation about my rifle with any of these clowns. I asked to BUY a crossbolt. They said no. No "I'll look into it" nothing. I knew exactly what I was doing with the warranty when I bedded the rifle. That is not the discussion here.

What part of contacting a warranty center versus going to a parts distributor don't you understand?...... They aren't set up to sell parts, they are set up to settle claims...... For many manufacturers usually.....

I don't go to a Ford dealer's warranty center to get an aftermarket brush bar for my truck...... Because the brush bar was not OEM...... And they would have no idea where to get it from and it isn't their job......

I'm not looking for an aftermarket part.
Read the post in the link you posted.

I've bought more than my share of gun parts over the years. Probably significantly more.
