5.56 Muzzle devices

Just too throw my two cents in for any tavor owners reading this. I've never really had the need for brakes or compensators using tradition style 5.56 rifles but when I got my tavor I found it too be a little jumpy and my double tap spread was huge compared to normal rifles (non bull pup)

Did some research and decided on the rainer arms compensator. Muzzle jump is virtually zero now and my double tap groups are very tight. I'd recommend this piece of kit 1000 times over.

Wicked, thanks! That's precisely what brought me to this thread.

Anyone using this VG6 Epsilon? I've been reading reviews saying it's a 'dragon' killer (in reference to the lantac dragon). If anyone is using it let me know as I'm thinking of changing out my BCM mod 0 for one.

I've been using an older AGW Linear Brake on my 7.5 PDW. Although it mitigates the report of the sound forward, it definitely makes the rifle extremely violent and extremely flashy. The recoil management is fine, it's kickback is manageable, and it's not hurting the people next to me.
What I am looking for is flash mitigation, reduction in the violence of the concussion blast, while maintaining the blast direction in a generally forward direction (or diffuse everywhere).
I'm leaning towards a Surefire Warden setup, or a Ferfrans CRD setup. Both are expensive options but I believe viable options.

I'm not looking for something that is like the A2 birdcage with gas porting perpendicular to shooter.

I bought one a couple weeks ago and used it in a 3 Gun match last weekend, I like it a lot.

Yes, I'm still thinking about grabbing one. Thanks for the input, Silverback. What did you have on your rifle before, if you can compare?

I had a BattleComp 2.0, the VG6 Epsilon seems to keep the muzzle steadier and now the muzzle blast is out of my bubble and more towards others to the side of me.

Hey guys, I'm kinda new to brakes/comps
I saw the Muzzle Brake Shootout on youtube so I grabbed that M4-72 Brake for my Tavor as pictured

However, when shooting indoors at ranges with lane dividers, I just get completely BLASTED and battered when shooting it. Like standing next to a .50 cal, but I'm behind my rifle.
I don't know if it's because the muzzle is closer to your face than compared to a 16" AR-15, or if its the blast chambers on the brake angled backwards and the concussion bouncing off the lane divider walls towards me (or both)
I haven't tried it yet but this I assume this would probably not be the case if I shot it outdoors.
Does anyone with a Lantac Dragon on their Tavor experience this at all?

Just wondering if there would be a better compensator to choose from for indoor ranges? Something like the Miculek Comp or the VG6 Comp where the chambers direct the blast directly to the left/right instead of the angled baffles on the M4-72 brake?
I looked at this list of best to worst performing brakes from the Muzzle Brake Shootout

Thanks in advance

My son hated me shooting beside him with the Stag brake that came on my rifle because of the blast it hit him with, so I swapped it out for a Griffen Armament M4SD Linear Comp today.

I think my rifle is finished.

Again.

I am running the VG6 Epsilon 556. Having very little experience in the AR game I can still attest to a dramatic improvement in follow up shot placement.

The AR used is a Norinco CQA M4.

The first target is with the factory 14.5" barrel and brake. Notice how wildly the second shot veers to the left.

The second is with a 16" DPMS barrel and the VG6, same Norinco.

This was at 25 yards using a simple red dot. For me, recoil wasn't the concern, the way the muzzle wandered to the left was.

Now I imagine that swapping barrels played an important roll here and maybe I got lucky or maybe I didn't ingest nearly as much caffeine second time around but if this can improve a nooBs shot placement this obviously, imagine what it will do for some you more experienced lads.

once i get a couple hours free from baby duty,
I am going to put my seekins precision on my 3 gun rig to replace my fsc556.
The fsc556 hopefully will then go on my apc556.

Question.

I have a rifle that tracks up and to the right when firing. Has anyone ever tried timing their comp off center to mitigate the forces and direct the rifle straight back and up?

Well, it would depend on the comp because some of them are made to be 'timed' at top dead centre. I know Jerry mucilek's (sp?) can be timed like that...that Ares comp as well.

new to the ar platform. but the sjc titan is interesting from what I've seen reported on it. also like the concept of bmd (blast mitigation device) for the busier range days.
excellent thread.

I use the Precision Armament EFAB on an AR-10 and AFAB on an AR-15. Both are 16" barrels and
the hybrids are very good at flash and concussion abatement. Fitting and timing with the washer
kit could not be easier with a good vise and a reaction rod for the chamber.
