Ruger Precision Rifles

Did you guys hear that Ruger is coming out with an enhanced version of the Ruger Precision Rifle.
The new version comes with a muzzle break and an aluminium bolt shroud.

Not sure what other changes they made.

Damn, wonder if they will sell parts separately for us who missed out lol

The parts are on Ruger's site but they won't ship to Canada. I tried ordering through Snapshots since they're supposedly THE Ruger guys in the country. Currently waiting on a call back.

So after 4 range days... At least 10 people adjusting the high of the cheek rest. (everyone wants to shoot it)

This happened at home when adjusting it to fit myself.f:P:2:

I Will be hitting my LGS (who I got it from for a replacement part, likely will just buy a magpull prs butt stock and call it a day.)

I freaking love mine in 308. Slapped a Viper Vortex PST 4-16x50 FFP in MRAD on her. Shooting Norinco surplus which is shooting amazingly well.

As for those thinking of it for hunting, please don't. The bush is no place for a tactical looking gun. The last thing we need is more regs. The RPR is meant for the range, and boy does she ever love em.

lol what a troll

So, you are going to take this......and your plans for it are...
Wow.

lmfao, well it looks a little different now. Yes, I do plan on using it for everything. Have used it for target shooting out to 800 so far and have taken it out yote hunting.

Should I put it in a glass box instead? Please tell me what you would do with it, id love to hear it.

I have a red dot in the safe waiting for deer season ! Should be pretty awesome !

Other then it being heavy as F it's really not a bad all around rifle it's certainly not to expensive to worry about using in a real world situation like hunting. If it floats your boat, I'd like one in 243 for an all around whatever gun but funds are sadly to tight. But yea if I had to carry all day through the bush i would be choosing something else I think.

I used a Rem700 in an LSS chassis (a sleek lightweight when compared to the RPR) for coyotes for about a year. Even for that type of hunting, I found the gun to be ungainly, heavy and awkward. Since I'm already ungainly, heavy and awkward myself, I didn't really need or enjoy the additional handicap. :)

I noticed a thread where you mentioned that you were a bit unhappy with snagging the stock on the RPR with your coat when sitting up after a shot. If that bothers you enough to warrant a mention, I can't wait to hear what you think after you drag this thing around in thick brush for an afternoon or two. That'll be like trying to stuff an angry hedgehog into the pocket of a tight pair of jeans.

It's a target gun; that's what I'd use it for! :)

I do use it for target! I also swapped out the butt stock. No more snagging ! It is chunky but nothing I find uncomfortable.

Well just to add, ii picked up one of these last week and topped it off with a Sightron scope 3.5-10x44 (not a real long range piece of glass) but i dont plan on shooting to 1000 meters either so it will do perfect for me. I took it to the range yesterday with some factory ammo and what a nice shooting rifle Ruger has built here. I absolutely love it and cant wait to get some reloads done up for it. I as well will be using it for target shooting out to 500 meters as well as dear and bear hunting this year. Had no feeding issues or flyers at all through out all 100 rounds I put down the pipe.

Not mine, but a buddy's. 6.5. Reached out to 1,000m this weekend.
