Help me pick a 1911 .45 Auto.

As some members mentioned the STI Trojan is a fantastic gun, have one in 40S&W.
Just recently, I acquired a used, but in new condition SIG1911 in stainless for $900 shipped, and let me tell you this gun is as good as the Trojan.
I can shoot one hole groups at ten meters all day long with it.
It makes me look like an expert :).

The Sig STX would be my first choice of the 4 pistols I handled today at my LGD. I really don't want to do a mail order on a handgun ever again so I'll buy locally.

Did you have a bad experience ordering online? Of the 18 handguns in my safe right now exactly one was bought "hands on" in person. The selection is so sparse in LGS's around here that you are really limited if you don't consider buying online.

Have you checked out either of the two big Sig forums? I think the STX is a good choice, but those guys on those two forums know a lot more than me.

This is right, at least 50 online orders and no problems whatsoever...

This is the greatest way to shop, on the couch in the living room siping an expensive dry red wine, surfing on the laptop... Bravo. JP.

You sound almost exactly like me. Of my 18+ only 2 were LGS purchases. One new and one a consignment purchase.

Anyone used a S&W 1911 TA e series? I shot 3 magazines and my last group at 10 yards was better than any I have shot with my 9mm at the same distance.

Brent if it were me I'd go with the STX. It looks cool and has a stellar Sig reputation. Next in line for me would be a Springfield Armory.

Now that could explain some of your purchases, too much red wine. Laugh2

Your are never at lost when you buy to much, the real danger in life is to miss out on a great firearm aka my Colt SCG 1911( 01970CY ), it would have been so sad missing on one of the only one in Kanadea, if not the only one...
The agony of defeat is unberable when you miss a great firearm by a small margin...

My take on life is my own and i respect it... JP.

I have owned many but the most accurate and reliable has been my kimber team match 2. Lots of criticism here on kimbers but my own experience has been very positive.

Ohhh no another thread where Norco and Sam owners want to compare their pistols to better products. You decided to buy shooters nothing more nothing less. Wake up there's a difference between hand fitting to make it function and to make everything fit like a tight glove. Who are you posters trying to convince us or your selfs? OP want to buy quality, look at a reasonable priced from companies that also sell the top rated , you won't have to basically start from scratch. Never seen bargin brands rated above shooters unless you want to spend extra money. Want a builder buy your pick of Norco's that you can put your hands on before spending your money, and build the ass out of it. If you can't build it yourself save your money and buy exactly for what you want, your pocket will thank you.

Went with the Sig STX Well satisfied how the gun performs right out of the box. Now it's time to start loading .45 ACP Going to try the 230 gr CAMPRO's first. Anyone have a good load worked up for this caliber?

I am happy with longshot 6.5gr and W231 5.1gr, same bullet. best personal score with SR1911 so far @ 25 meters with a NRA B8 target was 97 3x. Definitely NOT IPSC load though as it does have some recoil, just the way I like it.
