A buddy just gave me a source for gun grips. Google Thailand Gun Grips, sit back and be amazed .....
Any kind of exotic wood you want, mother of pearl, etc. Reviews On the S&W forum criticize some of the wood as not being well aged, the medallions are not up to par and the hardware is not really all that hard. Others are quite happy with their grips.
I've got a set of Craig Spegel K frame grips that I won and I'd stack them up against any makers product. I've also got factory S&W grips for my K and J frame RB's and while serviceable, they are not in the same league as the Spegel product. I wouldn't be surprised if they were made in the Far East.
I've also seen Hogue wooden grips that evoked a "Meh" response.
