UPDATE on post #8 http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/foru...in-my-CZ75?p=12687347&viewfull=1#post12687347

Today I received my set of brand new thin safeties for my CZ 75 Shadow SP-01.

I bought them from a fellow CGN'er, well I had no choice, they are sold out everywhere.

I disassembled the parts needed and when I was about to install the thin safeties, found out that the left side shaft of the safety don't fit in the hole of the right side.

I can't beleive at the price they sell those parts, they don't even check if they fit together.

I am a machinist and I know these parts should not be loose but they should work.
The fit of the factory parts is good but there is no way the shaft will enter in the hole.

I felt a small burr on the outside diameter of the shaft so I removed it with a swiss file... still don't fit.

At this point, I will have to bring it to my job, takes some measurements and figure out where to slightly remove material.
Then I will have to pay someone to reblue the safeties.

That's very frustrating !

The only positive point is I learned alot of the *how it works* of this pistol and I was able to reassemble it without any issues, thanks to this video :

Anybody came across this problem with the thin safeties ?

I was told that this as an upgrade for the regular Shadow, but for someone like me who don't shoot competition, I don't see the appeal of the low profile safety. I have the SP-01 Shadowmate Canadian which comes with low profile safety, and I find I need more effort to switch it compare to the regular style safety. Granted as a paper punching gun I practically don't need the safety. How would it help in a competition environment?

Depending on your grip some find themselves accidentally bumping the large safety on which can mess with your stage times. Personally I like the large safety and use it as a thumb rest like with a 1911.

Simple items, but I've found myself diddling with the same sort of thing - the sear cage is squared away? The safety fits/engages properly whereby the nub rides under the leg of the sear and properly clears it when off?

All safeties purchased new require fitting........... its quite the pain in the ass I found out like you. Agree..... when they sell these as a set they should fit. I had to buy a second set because I took off too much on the first set and the safety was "loose".

It would be cheaper to sell your Shadow and buy the ShadowLine I have in the EE - it comes with thin safeties from factory.

Nice try :p Good luck with your sale !

The thin safeties also have a smaller surface of contact. The factory safeties can slightly mark the finish of the frame with repeated use so I want to change them before there is marks on my frame and the smaller safeties won't hide the marks done by the slightly bigger/factory safeties.

I also have average hands and thin safeties will makes easier to reach the slide release.
Its not that I really have a problem reaching it but that will be more easy.

Finally the safety is fitted and I must admit it was easy once I had some good measuring tools.

You must begin by the diameter and finish by the flat area.
When you remove material from the diameter, the dimension of the flat will change.
When you achieved the right dimension of the diameter, you can start to fit the flat area.

You must remove small amounts with a small fine file and take measurements often to be sure to not remove too much material.
Patience is a must when you do mechanical adjustment.

There is no play between the two parts, the fit is perfect.

I just need to send them for a reblue.

Finally, it was not too bad :yingyang:

That's the bit that didn't fit? CZ actually sends out a pair of (bloody expensive) levers as a set that don't even mesh with each other? That's feeble!

I thought you had trouble with the fit to the frame.

Nope, the fit in the frame was good. I was able to install them individually but they would not mate together.
Maybe my explanations wasn't clear enough...

Now they will fit perfectly.
