We ever getting 14" 590-A1's again?

Like i said, buy it yourself from a dealer in the US and get it imported here if you really want one.

That's what i did.

.

If one of our dealer/manufactuers would step up to the plate and just build a run of +/- 15" barrels for a standard Mossberg 500/590, you wouldn't have to buy these expensive kits to begin with.

How are you suppose to get one if the US State Dept. will only issue a export permit to Mil/LE end users?

That's not what you yourself said RR.

"The importer and Mossberg got severely reprimanded by the US State Dept. for selling them to civilians after importing them on a LE end user."

What this means is the State Dept. were pissed because the details/agreement of this specific import permit for this specific shipment were violated.

That is completely different than only allowing LE/Mil for this product.

McCoy,

How did the to your door cost work out vs the way over priced cost of these kits in Canada ?

Of course with the actual cost of the Cdn $$ , taxes, shipping cost and importing fee, everything coming from the US is expensive, but it's the only way to get these short barrel shotguns like Remington, Mossberg or Ithacas.

So far i got a pair of Ithacas Shorties and Remington 870 MCS, got something in process right now, waiting.

I didn't buy the kit yet, i'm considering getting a complete 14" 590A1 or a Serbu Super Shorty, didn't made my mind yet.

.

I really wanted a 14" to go along with my 20" A1, but I missed the party. Bought one of the kits from GP Tactical, it took me 15 minutes to install. I'm pleased, because, I really dislike long barrels.

Who said that ?

Source please !

.
I was trying to locate a 14" shotgun through various distributors in Canada and they all told me that the US State Dept. will only issue a export permit to Mil/LE. That was from 3 different distributors.

Irunguns just announced they can now import Short barrelled guns that usually require tax stamps down south to own, maybe they can now bring some in?

As usual the distributors are not telling all the truth, maybe there doing it by purpose, but anyways this is not accurate.

"At this point Shotguns with a barrel length less then 18.5" are not allowed to be exported out of the US without Military or Law Enforcement credentials. We are currently working on it...."

Straight from Steve's mouth @ IRG. I guess I'm a f@#king idiot and don't know what I'm talking about. I know a lot of people in the firearms community. This is a US State Dept. ruling. But again down the road it might change, the US State Dept. has a tendency to waffle on this stuff. One day they will do it and the next they won't. At one point in the early 2000's all AR-15 being export to Canada had to have the post ban configuration i.e. fixed stock, no FH.

No youre not an idiot on the contrary.

If Irunguns says they are working on it, it probably means that they are in a permit renewal process, it may take a few weeks or couple of months, it has happens before, no big deal.

In the mean time i have a very nice Colt 6921 coming next month !

Spoke to Gravel at OTAB & Mossberg at the Shot Show / they both said no exports to Canada of short barrelled shotguns & the Gravel conversation was two weeks ago as I inquired about the MCS complete package / they expressed they would like nothing more but to sell the MCS but cannot based on Remington's Defence policy plus State Department ruling. As Mildot remembers just like I do when you couldn't get any AR other than post-ban configuration, makes no sense to me & never will.

Remington, Mossberg and Colt have had strict company policy not to sell their sbr or sbs to anyone but LE and mill agencies for years, nothing new here. but they have no control over grey market in the US.
I'm not surprised about Canadian distributors telling you it's the US State dept policy, but the truth is this is not the case, it's the manufacturers policy not to sell these shotguns to civilians.
So the only way the manufacturer will export these sbs to Canada, is if the final end user is a LE agency or mill, and thats why the Canadian distributors are telling you that.

Like i said the manufacturers have no control over grey market in the US, buy them on Gunbroker or thru a US class 3 dealer and get them exported.

Every company has to apply for a export permit the exact same way. So why would you think one company can get stuff well the other can't? The paper work goes across the same desks at the US State Dept., the department head has to give final approval.

Nothing to do with manufacturer policy. US state department will NOT allow export. Does't matter who the manufacturer is! They cannot be exported by anyone unless US State Department issues export licences!

You are mixing things here.

The US State dept DOES issue export permit IF the manufacturer or the exporter is registered with the US State dept and is willing to export it for civilians.

But it is the policy of Mossberg and Remington not to sell SBS to civilians !

Have you ever tried to buy a SBS in the US and have it exported to Canada ?

Wish dlask would start to do some Mossberg barrels
.

Again, the design of the Mossberg requires more than a barrel switch - you must change out the mag tube and the forend. You could have a dozen Mossberg 14 inch barrels and not be able to make a 14 inch shotgun. Buy the factory kit, you get all the parts you need, or switch to the 870 and buy a 14 inch barrel.
