I've shot a bunch of deer with them. A bunch. But don't let that get in the way of a good debate.
I shoot a mess of them out of the .300 Blackout at right around 2100 fps, and it shoots like a house on fire. We'll see how they do on deer this fall...
Heavier bt work well on lung shot deer, but they do expand very fast.
I wouldn't use one that light in an 06 on deer.
Used a 200 grain BT out of a 338WM on deer once. Won't be doing that again either!
It should be noted that some folks here may be still riding the bad rap that the BT got in early production. It is tougher than it used to be. But I still wouldn't use a light one in '06 on deer.
I had a similar experience with the BT in the 7mm Wby and 140 gr weight. Bad combination...even at 250 yards.
