re-register AR15 lower after assembly?

My mistake. He did:

However you then went on to say:

It is technically a serial numbered receiver only and is registered as such then becomes a "firearm" when a barrel is added and then re-registered with an updated certificate. I understand what Katazone is posting and agree with his comment, because he is correct.

I think that is what a number of posters have stated. I know many on here break the law by leaving the original "receiver" certificate as the paperwork and feel it is enough and play the 30 day card.

So what transpires when an individual purchases a stripped or assembled Glock receiver?

Sigh

I will make it simple: Do all the laws that pertain to a firearm and barrelled receiver pertain to a bare receiver. Yes, or no? Simple question and simple answer.

Edit to add: Regardless of what some telephone monkey told the other poster.

Yes......the law is self explanatory. However it is not a firearm dictated by the RCMP and CFO.

It is an interesting "conversation" that can be resolved one way... By the courts. Personally, I believe that a stripped lower receiver is indeed a firearm as the CC now intends it to be. Otherwise it would not need to be registered. Adding a lower parts kit to a lower receiver doesn't modify it, it merely adds to it. I would say that enlarging a trigger pin hole would be a modification. It's really just a play on words though. Am I modifying a gun when I add a magazine to it? I would say not. Therefore adding an upper wouldn't be a modification either.

Look at the upper receiver assembly. With a little creativity, you can get it to shoot without attaching a lower receiver at all. So what would be considered the firearm then (sure the bolt would fly out of the back of the upper receiver, but the bullet would still have been set in flight). All the lower receiver does is control. And the main thing it controls is the firing pin, which is in the upper receiver anyway. This whole mess only occurs because the lower is the serialized portion. If it was the upper, problem would have been solved. Thanks Eugene

bros calm down
does it really matter?

f:P:

Bwahaaaaaaaaaa your joking right? YOU know more then the CFO, RCMP and the HWRP firearms officer?

f:P:

Respectfully, have all three put it in writing, on official letterhead with signatures and the correct date. I'd be very interested to read their replies, as I'm sure the rest of CGN would be.

wow, I'm amazed at how things get distorted!!!
They said: "it is not considered a firearm" as in it cannot discharge.
When your certificate says "frame/receiver" no matter what you do or have in it during your build, the only time you need to call it in for re-registration is when you acquire your upper with your barrel and couple it. You then have 30 days to call it in. The idea is to avoid a possibility of getting checked.
And as an update, you cannot take it to the range until you receive your new certificate, that is what I was told by both the CFO and the registration centre.
I asked for whomever I spoke to, to confirm this. For me that's good enough. I'm not interested in bending the rules or trying to read deeper in the matter.
I'm sharing my experience, if you guys want to pursue a different avenue....feel free to do so.
