So I had my little 10lb salt lick I wanted to drop at the spot I'm hoping to take a deer out of this year and decided to drop it off with my family.
My daughter who is 4 years old was beyond happy to be feeding the deer treats, she held the salt lick and was repeating "going to feed deer treats and come back later to eat deers!" It was so cute.
Anywho we parked the van and started hiking in, when we got about a hundred or so feet off the road away from the van we started hearing the deer alert cough/bark (only reason I know is because of that app we downloaded). To be honest surprised the crap out of me because it was only about 50 ft away hiding just out of sight from were we stood.
Anywho the hike takes a grown man at a decent clip about 20 minutes to get to... about 45 minute round trip... we were back in there for 2 hours poking around my son (18 months old) was squealing playing in the meadow and the entire time we were back in there we were listening to these deer coughs following us around. My wife loved the area and wants to camp there as well lol.
When we finally got back to the van we saw a nice 2 point little white tail buck about 200ft down the road. Then about a 10 minute drive farther down we saw a Muley buck (young one)
Anywho felt like sharing the experience twas a nice day the entire trip took roughly 3.5 hrs packed a picnic etc twas great
