Best reticle leveler ?

I use a tube bubble on the rail and one on the turret just like what Kelly has described. I also use the level, level, level or a deck of cards or a cheap set of feeler gauge from Princess Auto between the rail and the flat part on the bottom of the scope and confirm the setup with the plumb bob line. They all seem to work very well.

The deck of cards method. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_K9Z9KZvPE same way with the feeler gauge.

I found 2X brand new in box Starrett 135A pocket levels on Ebay for $75 CDN shipped.
Finally, bubble leveles that I can trust...

Its a good starting point. Now I need to buy a plumb bob or make one from scratch.

I also have an eye on those, because the are magnetic.

Never used a bubble level.. just a metal ruler on angle between rain and bottom of scope.

As a machinist, I like to double check or triple check everything with different methods, that's why...
Like I said, its for my rifles that will shoot at long range.

I've been using the EXD ENGINEERING - VERTICAL RETICLE INSTRUMENT from brownells

brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/sight-scope-installation-tools/scope-reticle-levelers/vertical-reticle-instrument-prod6097.aspx

Works great. Aligns the bore and the scope to the same plane. Eliminates any cant introduced by the mounts rings etc.

Thanks,
Cal.

Hi, I want to buy a good reticle leveler.

I always used the Wheeler bubble levels to level my scopes but I would like to have something better.

What do you think of the Segway MKIII reticle leveler ?

Is there any other good options ?

I would also like to know where to buy a Segway in Canada...

Segway scope level kit are available at WSS.

What about eye leveler? How do you know they're aligned?

Has anyone ever considered TIGing a picatinny mount to a 2' level?? Secure it onto the rail, level the rifle in a vise or on bipod, and then level to reticle to a known flat or vertical surface......

I've been using a laser level in a darkish area to level up my reticles. Seems to be working well. The hardest part always seem to me to be trusting that your rifle is level, leveling the reticle is easy.

I use the Segway level. Very good item. I will check with a plumb bob after, then on a neighbors window sill. I am a little anal I know... But a 1000+ rifle needs it. Don't discount your own eyes either. Look for level on the base, then the joining line on your rings to ensure your rifle is level, then look through the optic. Your eye has an excellent sense of level.

WSS is WholeSaleSports, right ? If yes, I don't find this item on the site...

I used a 2 foot level. Leveled the rifle then leveled the scope. I figured it would be more accurate than a 2" level.

A quality 2 inch level will be more accurate than a lesser quelity 2 foot long level.
The quality of the ones I ordered will be very hard to beat.
Starrett makes top quality measuring tools.

That's why I started this thread.
When you shoot at long range, I guess every details are important.

So far, I have 2 quality levels in the mail, I bought a plumb bob yesterday and I just need to order a Segway.

The plumb bob is suuuuch a good idea, I never thought of this before that thread.

I've had good luck going this route

By dialling on the flat of the reticle box or a properly seated cap, I can usually get it right around .0003ish
