Husqvarna Sporting Rifles #### - ALL MODELS!!!

I have two questions, 1st I want to freshen the checkering up on a couple husqvarnas I have (one was 'refinished' prior to my ownership, leaving the points of the checkering sanded off) and I can not seem to confidently measure the lines per inch my self. Was there a standard Husqvarna used? (for 4100 and 3100). I am also curious what the weight difference is between the steel and alloy bottoms is. I apologize if this info is in the thread already; I have read it through at least twice, but not recently (my two daughters, one 2 years and the other 3months leave me with limited spare time!)

Thanks!
Good day
Have refinished-re cut checkering 1/2 doz + Husky 4100-3100, the checkering is not 18 or 20lpi its like 19 lpi . Just use a single line cutter < don't use a dual line cutter as it will wreck factory checkering > either 60 or 90 degree don't rush that your time and enjoy .
Swedes built a great rifle but there checkering needs a bit of work .

Thanks for the help RE freshening checkering! I was expecting 18lpi and it didn't measure up on my calipers. I will order the tool and practice on a spare stock 1st!

I weighed my friends alloy bottom/trigger guard floorplate 6.165 oz

My steel one, 9.375 oz

For a difference of 3.21oz :)

Actually, the real difference will have a lot to do with wood density of each specific stock...

@ baribal
i dont whant to hot rod the m96 comercial action but seem the usa load are to soft 170gr at +- 2200
did you have euro load data ? Anyone have a 8x57 data and whant to help me !
Thanks

Hodgdon loading datas are quite following CIP pressures, so that might be your best readily available et trustable source.
It's the US commercially loaded ammo which is "weak".

Odd little rifle, good thing 7.60mm ammo is easy to find....even at Canadian Tire. 3 digit s/n, not sure if it dates the same as the other centerfires?
I'll get better pics on the weekend. Apparently they made these in 45-70 too which would not be my first choice in a rifle this light.....

Nice catch, and of course, I guess you already know that 7.60 is what is stamped on the No. 35 rifle barrels, which is 7.62X51R a.k.a. 30-30 Win...
Three digit serail makes it a pre-1929 model.

The 45-70 Gvt model No. 45 is a larger action, and much heavier, so it's not that bad to shoot...

Any tips on how to strip the bolt down? It's a little different from a '71 mauser bolt and I can't find anything online....

I know is a military action have a cut in action for stripper clip m96 action in 8x57js !

For dismantling the bolt, it's pretty much the same thing as the M/71, you have to pull the cocking piece and lock it (I use a pair of Wise-grip with leather on the jaws) the firing pin in the fully extended mode. Then, you unscrew the knob and you're pretty much done. You really can't go further without a special tool or by using some kind of drift pin to remove the threaded insert retaining the spring into the bolt body, but usually removing the cocking piece is enough for maintenance, lubrication / cleaning.

A good picture will tell me more, the SN can be used but won't say it something is wrong... a 648 (Small Ring based on the M/38 action) S/N should be within 80000 and 90000

Yes, it's a 648 series, but the action ain't a military one, it's a "commercial" m/38 .
If all is matching you should be able to shoot any commercial loads, they don't have the weak SAAMI loads in Europe.
