Are the Ruger #1 International RSI's worth $2026 ??

Thanks.... Good to know... Not something I could "live with" either....... Lol

The 1-4 shotgun scope can be positioned further forward, with it's longer eye relief, and the 4BO is not usually required, but it comes with the heavy Duplex reticle... Korth can fix that issue.

Heavy Duplex isn't really all that bad.

It's really not all that good either........ There is something to be said with "going with what you know"...... I got one with my muzzleloader and didn't like it at all......... Not saying critters wouldn't die based on scope choice..... But I personally find the heavies, well.... Too heavy.....

The going rate for a No. 1 is pretty tough right now. I bought one 5 years ago for $1100 new from Prophet. Crappy dollar explains some of the new price, but mostly it is a price hike from Ruger while simultaneously lowering wood quality. Which is disappointing. That being said they are a quality rifle and every gun nut deserves to have one in their collection.

Ruger has increased their prices on them by almost 50% in last couple years. Add that to the exchange rate.... :(
Too bad, we used to sell 400-500 of them per year, lucky to be 100 this year...
Ours are on for no tax,no ship with a free 75.00 gift card this weekend :)

Do you have one in 6.5x55? :) I could use the $75 towards lens caps.

I picked up a 77/22 Mag International with "no tax/no ship"... nice rifle, nice wood.

Not the best pic...... But here is my bib red pad the day it arrived....... Still have to scope it and get a better pic..... Not an RSI..... It's a 1-B...... But representative of the wood quality on the red pads I suppose..

That looks like a great rifle to carry, slim and handy.

Ruger seems to be have transitioned the #1 to a semi-custom, limited edition product and the price will reflect that reality.

I used a #1A in .270 for several years. It was a fascinating but frustrating rifle at the same time. Best handling rifle I've used in the field. Not accurate in the traditional sense but the first shot from a cold barrel always went to the point of aim, the second shot right on top and then groups expanded rapidly as the barrel heated up. They can be tricky to take apart and there are a lot of sharp edges on the receiver and lever.

Due to the location of the bases scopes tend to sit far forward so you'll either need a lot of eye relief or a scope with enough length to be moved back sufficiently.

Mine was sold in pursuit of something else but when I see one with nice wood I get the itch to own one again.

. . .
I have never owned a #1, but have been longing for one in a 'tropical' calibre.
. . .

If you ever do get a #1 Tropical, be sure to check the bedding of the receiver at the tang; chances are its uneven, and will cause the stock to split in short order. When you send the rifle out for warranty, they will replace the butt stock, but its color and grain won't match the wood on the forend, and they won't address the uneven bedding, so it too will split after just a few rounds.

That was the story for my .416 Rigby. But once the uneven bedding issue was addressed, a half inch was removed from the LOP, and a custom quarter rib was installed so I could mount the scope far enough forward that the ocular was even with the leading edge of the falling block, the rifle was perfect for me. From then on it, and I, simply shrugged off the effects of the heavy recoiling loads that I subjected us to.

At that time the #1 was the least expensive medium/big bore rifle available, I think it was about $1K in the late '90s, but since that time I have focused only on repeaters, which are better suited for my purposes, but that don't carry nearly as well at the balance. One of the idiocracies of that rifle was that after several hours on the trail, whenever I unslung it, the safety had invariably moved to the fire position. While it never resulted in an accident, the thought of a .416 booming a few inches from my ear was disconcerting, so I acquired the habit of carrying the rifle slung muzzle down, and made sure no one ever walked on my left side.

My idea at the time as to acquire another in 7X57, have it restamped ".275 Rigby" and thus would have a brace of Rigbys that would cover any shooting chore I was likely to encounter with a hunting rifle.

Is yours a 1.5-5x? I have one that I bought on the EE a few years back as a spare for the one on my 416 Rigby but it had the standard duplex, not the heavy. I'd happily trade for another HD version. I find it easier to discern in dark shadow or very low light (like walking back to camp in Africa dark).

No, 3-9 x40 and it's a piece of junk package scope..... Bushnell Banner muzzleloader... I took it off the day I came home with it and replaced it with a Zeiss Terra.... If I recall, it's on my son's Rascal right now.... lol.... Interested? :)

Send it to Korth for a reticle upgrade.

Yes the #1's price has jumped lately, however they have been underpriced for years. When you compare the number of parts and fitting of a #1 vs a bolt action that both sold for the same money it's easy to see they were a bargain for what they are. It still hurts to drop $2000 on one, but I feel ass raped anytime I buy a new rifle. (I'm that cheap)
