I just acquired a Sig Mosquito and it won't cycle properly.
I have an SA-22 and it works perfectly.
I am using Federal Champion 38 gn copper plated hollow points. It says on the box 1260 fps.
It feeds fine, fires but is like it doesn't cycle far enough back to strip the next round.
What is out there for ammo with a little more oomph.
I had some CCI Minimags here somewhere but do you think I can find them NOT.

you're not the only one who's had problems with that .22.
i don't have one but you need to find a .22 round that it likes.maybe some cci stingers or something with more power.

My Mosquito runs great on the cheap Blazer ammo, as long as I keep it really oily, and I mean wet. They have a terrible reputation without question, but mine must have been blessed by the Sig fairy, because it's been a great reliable cheap plinker. It isn't even that fussy with ammo, Federal bulk, pretty much anything I've put down it. But, keep it oily, and clean it good after every session, including the mags. That rimfire is filthy stuff.

If the other spring you found does not help out try some CCI Standard Velocity.

It sounds crazy and backward but the way these basic blowback pistols work is that the heavier and slower bullet of the SV ammo stays in the bore for longer. And even though the peak pressure is lower it seems to result in a longer and overall stronger recoil impulse energy. And it's that recoil impulse which pushes the slide back.

The other way is to seriously over power it with something like the Mini Mags which are well up there. But then you risk the ammo straining the gun which already has a reputation for cracking the slide and frame. So if you can get it to shoot well with the lower power stuff then it may end up better overall.

They are notorious for that problem. The are not made by Sig. Several gunshops give them tail light guarantees but I have heard some people trying various ammos having luck. High powder brands.

I have one also, same thing as Twisted Canuck.. It will run on anything and I also run it wet, real wet.

You really should consider getting rid of it before you spend a small fortune on ammo trying to figure out the issue. The issue is the gun. My friend had one, he tried for a full year to get the thing to run more than a single mag full. He ended up selling it at a decent loss and chalking it up to a lesson learned. Do your research on a gun before you buy it. The internet is FULL of horror stories about mosquitos and their MANY woes.

I bought it because I also have a Swiss Arms SA-22 and from any research I did they are the same gun (it even came with Sig mags). The SA will chew through ANYTHING I feed it.
Comparing the Sig to the SA there is a lot of drag on the slide of the Sig. Withe the lighter spring the slide will only return to battery 2 of 10 shots because of friction. Looking at the hammer on the Sig the face of it has more of a hump to it than the SA. I'm wondering if maybe just a little bit of stoning at a time until it doesn't hang up?
I am a tinkerer and will do my damndest to get it functioning properly.

My wifes mosquinto must have been one of the good ones. It never had any issues and ate every brand of .22lr she put thru it. The only reason she sold it was that she preferred the ergonomics of her Jericho and to pay off her Tavor purchase.

SO I took a stone to the hammer out by the very end. 5-6 strokes try it 5-6 and repeat. Basically took all the finish off the face and TADA works perfectly now.
Chewed through about 100 rounds of 3 kinds of ammo and only hung up maybe 5 or 6 times. I figure with a few hundred rounds will do the rest of the work for me.

Excellent! The Mosquito's have a bad rep, but with a little tender love and care, and know how, they can be a great little plinker. Give us updates on it. TC
