Ruger no 1 in 44mag

I love the 77/44, but the magazine is so limiting... which is why I want a No.1... plus I like rimmed cartridges in the No.1... working on a .30/30, .44, .45/70 set for fun in the deer woods... long COL on spire point bullets makes them more interesting.

I can dig that. I'm considering having someone turn my #1H 458 WM into a 450 NE.

A simple job and one that won't likely depreciate the value... any No.1 big bore is a tough sell... you need the right sort of buyer... fortunately they always eventually come along... and it would be a big hit at the range... if you happen to be at a range where you see people... My last dozen range trips I haven't seen another shooter. The big potential expense of that project is that you might be tempted to shoot something worthy of it...

One of the 450 - 400 NE on clay's site loos to have exceptional wood and is very tempting...... As is your .257 Bob ultralight......

As you say, A #1 in what would be considered a DG cartridge is a hard sell...... Most hunting cake buff, Lin and such would prefer to have a second round handier than a #1 can provide......

Better in person. I bought a 450/400 mysleft!! Love it. Don't forget, sale is on and #1's have a 75.00 gift card rebate on top!!

The best part about 44RM for hunting is that you can "eat right to the hole". Its the gentlest cartridge Ive ever seen on a big game animal. Leaves a nice big hole through a deer with virtually no meat loss like a standard rifle cartridge.

I love mine (77/44)

Thinking about it....... The 35 Whelen isn't here yet and I am also contemplating a 77/22 In International from you........

Not to be an enabler... but I just got the second one from the top from Prophet River a 77/22 WMR International... the top one is the International in .22 LR (I am impatiently awaiting a run of blued/walnut International LR's).

My deposit is down for my No.1 .44... speaking of which... Clay, if you see this post, is Ruger referring to the .44 RM as a No.1-A Light Sporter with a shorter barrel?

^^^ it's more to feed the 77 addiction..... I don't have an international or an ultralight...... I like the #1, and my 10/22, but I also like the concept of picking up your bob in ultralight and an RSI In 10/22.....

Also, the Bob is a 1b........ I may prefer a 1-a with a Shenable (sp) forend.......

Schnabel... but close enough... the Alexander Henry is not really a schnabel (German for "beak"), it is a unique design... I prefer it to the "B" or "V" forends...

P.S - when my M77-RS MKII .257 deal fell through, the Ultralight Roberts went back in the safe, where it will stay until I source another RS... but who knows, I've been lucky lately.

Brad you picked up one of the 35 whelen number 1's?

You don't need that and should offload it on to me; it's ok I will take the hit for you.

Ah, I see that (or don't see that), good luck on your search..... Going to tidy up the #1 I bought and have some fun with it for now......Who knows, it might grow on me, the flat forend that is, the wood is really nice....

Have had the boys out shooting quite a bit, putting more .22 down range now then I did as a kid.... both at the range and at the camp.... The .22 International would be dad's .22 and at the range would be a nice partner to my revolver....

I barreled a No. One in 44 Mag a few years ago. The owner seemed to like it.
Re, the 788: In 1971, the hardware store in Kendrick, Idaho had one on sale for 69.95. I was tempted but didn't buy it. My wife's uncle did buy it and it shot very well.

In Nova Scotia you have to reserve the DNR rifle ranges. You actually go online and reserve it using your Hunters Ed card. I've never seen the like.

Wow... that is an awkward system... never heard of that before.

As a member of the local range I dive in, sign a book and shoot... usually all by my lonesome.
