M39 picure thread!!!

What "extra marking" ( etched/engraved/electropenciled)are to be found on these new imports? thanks!

There is one small (and I do mean tiny) 1990's era import stamp (a light stamp) on the bottom of the barrel between the muzzle and the cleaning rod. They might also have a serial number stamped into the receiver that matches the one on the barrel, but then so do nearly all finn rifles imported to Canada since the 1980's. Not sure of the Finns added receiver serials at export or if the importers added them at import - both canada and the US require the receiver to be serialized on all firearms imports for quite some time now. Compliance is not 100% - some russian eosins have made it in without the extra serials.

The ones I saw looked professionally done (the serials) with proper arsenal-type number stamps, not electropencil, engraving, etc.

I hope they're not on the receiver, that would suck. Tradex is usually pretty good at disclosure though, and if they took the time to note the one on the barrel you'd think/ hope they would also if they were present on the receiver.

If they are stamped on the receiver, which we need to confirm, the very great majority of the finn rifles in canada already are. There is debate whether the finns did it, or if the importer did. If the finns did it, would you still be upset?

Small discreet Serial Numbers were added on the receivers by the Importers, some are stamped others Dot-Matrix. Remember this will probably be the last Import of M-39 into Canada ever! Finland sold out years ago and Classic Arms is said to have bought out the last of the Burns Brothers stash (Last source of M-39's in the USA).

Noob question here fellas. What products do you guys use to maintain your m39s.

Cleaning the bore, waxing the stock, keeping the bolt lubricated.

Thanks.

Only 200 were imported, with over 100 sold.Get yours while you can! These were all hand picked. The best of what classic firearms had left. These were in storage for nearly 20 years and whats left have a lot of storage rust and cracked stocks. The very last M39,s you will see in canada for sale in bulk.

Depends how it was done I guess, if there is any electro penciling or banner style marks like on the tulsky PU's old'e No.20 will be going back due to lack of accurate description.

Would love some insight from you guys on the M39 I recently picked up on the EE. I'm thnking it must have been refinished at some point, but I'm not 100% on that. I've seen photos of original M39s with a "brighter" finish. Based on the splice, this appears to be a post war stock. Let me know what you think:

No electo-pencil on receivers. Only small numbers applied on knox form of Hex receivers, some are stamped others are Dot-Matrix.

I think he means to older CAI billboard dot-matrix markings like your earliest batch of 91/30's that I think you got from Denis 10 or 15 years ago, Jean. And no, they are not marked like that. I posted pics of the import mark on mine in the Tradex forum thread. Go have a look if you are concerned.

While that is a post-war stock, I believe it's been sanded and re-finished here in Canada. No post war stock should have a sanded down finger groove and a glossy finish like that. I saw that one in the EE and passed on it. Probably a great shooter, but I could not get past that stock. Maybe a good candidate for buying a replacement stock from Liberty Tree or e-bay. Any generic post-war stock with original finish would work great on that rifle.

Didn't realize there was another thread, just saw yours. Looks great! I'm out west so my tracking # says next Friday for me.

Well I hope yours looks at least as good. Some people are b!tching about the price of them compared to the USA. I believe they are not realizing the entry level Classic Arms prices were for "standard grade" rifles which show wear, have worn bores, minor stock cracks, etc. These rifles were hand select grades that Anthony picked out personally - the best of all that was left from the last Pat Burns shipment. These guns in this grade sold in the $600USD+ range at Classic and even then, you ordered luck of the draw. We are very lucky to have these at the $895 price point.

Just a week ago, the going rate on the EE had risen to $1200+ from what I saw, and most of those were not exactly gems.

BAM! My new Tradex M39. Maybe my nicest M39 yet :)
