Some quick first thoughts on the RPM Keymod Tavor fore-end

I’m getting back into the Tavor game again and I thought I’d try out one of the new fore-ends that are more common now than the last time I owned one. I don’t care for the factory fore-end on the Tavor at all and was looking to try something different. I had a chance to pick up an RPM Precision keymod unit and both it and my “new to me” Tavor showed up this evening. I had a chance to grab a few pictures on the back deck just before it got too dark.

I’m no expert on Tavor fore-ends, with this being the first I have any experience with but I am impressed. It’s more low-profile than a lot of other products but I'm OK with that—I’m unlikely to mount a flashlight on my Tavor unless my world takes a dramatic turn for the worse. In fact, I’m unlikely to mount any accessories on it, I was just looking for a replacement for the factory unit.

The fore-end is aluminum (anodized I guess) and does not weigh much. Mounting was easy and fit was good. What struck me most about the unit was the nice design touches. I like how the angle of the front end matches the angle of the Tavor above the trigger, and how the groove below the side keymod section matches a similar horizontal line on the Tavor. I also like the curved section where it mates with the trigger guard—it’s very comfortable. I know these touches won’t make it work any better but I’m a guy that appreciates good design—when something looks better than it has to—and this struck me as being an unusually thoughtful design.

The front-end is open and would not allow under-barrel mounting of a flashlight like the Gearhead Works unit, but for me I’m happier with a smaller fore-end as I’m not mounting a light.

I’ve only messed around with it for a couple of hours but I’m quite happy—I like the feel much more than the factory fore-end, and I’m very pleased with the look too.

I've got the Tavor here beside me while I write this and one of the neat touches I hadn't noticed before is that the radius on the corner between the bottom of the fore-end and the 45° section is rounded a little bit more than the angle between the 45° section and the vertical section. This makes for a more comfortable hold...again, a thoughtful design touch.

I was going to do the same thing this week, I received mine as well.
I have had mine for a couple weeks now and I can't find anything I don't like. I have tried a couple different keymod items and they all work fine.
I have had the opportunity to grab a few other tavor handguards, and this feels great. It is solid and the the little extra length it adds over the other short handguards is a welcome addition. I prefer the feel over any other tavor handguard I have handled now.
I also don't mind that there is no light option inside, right now I use the same light for multiple firearms so I like that I can just clip it on the side when it's in this rifle. I also have to agree that the rounding of the edges on the handguard make comfortable to hold.
The one I have is a "prototype" yet the fit and finish are outstanding, as good or better then top line ar handguards.
I really can't find anything I don't like about it, and I tried.
About the only thing people will not like is the price. The MSRP is going to be about $399.
Seems high, however when you factor in that it's machined aluminum, small market and Canadian made its very fair. Sure it has cheaper counterparts available, but none have this quality that I have found. I don't know about everyone else on here but I have no problem paying a little more and helping out a Canadian producers to bring new things to market. We put $400 trigger packs in this rifle, and don't bat an eye.
If you want the best tavor handguard out there this is it.
I have also heard a rumor that an extended version is in the works (I personally think this one is perfect length, but whatever floats your boat) and an mlock version is also possibly in the works.
Pics will come shortly when my computer behaves better for me.
And fixed here they are...
Once I get my flex cover I will be using the handguard sling mount...

It looks great and is clearly well made/designed, but that sticker price is a deal killer. Hopefully they'll reduce the price as their distribution grows.

Hey all. New to posting on these forums. Usually just browsing. Just wanted to share a similar experience with the RPM grip.

Recently installed one on my Tavor and must say that the piece exudes quality. The machining was well done and there are no rough edges or imperfections. During installation the fit was so snug I thought I didn't even need to install the screws. Like a glove. Further up close inspection reveals that the creator put a lot of effort, thought, care and consideration into making this piece.

I would definitely recommend. I don't mind spending a few extra dollars on quality work and great craftsmanship. I have only mounted the BCM gun fighter mod 3 on it as recommended by some. It feels really intuitive. The ergonomics in the design are also well thought out as someone mentioned above. Such as the angled bevelling where your hand wraps around. Great work RPM. Keep us posted on any new developments.

I believe the business owner is also local. More reason to support the local economy and business owners.

I received mine recently. Very good ergonomics and it is machined beautifully. Looks much better than the original as well.
